We are all going to die and see Christ thus if we are depressed why not just wait a couple of decades?

you obviously don't know much about depression. please do not belittle the pain of a suicidally depressed person by flippant statements like what you have made! your remark was uncaring and unfeeling and totally assinine.

:emot-hug:

No my comment was dead serious.Pains is part of life, life is very very short on this earth, we all have an appointment with death, within the next four decades it is likely that everyone posting here will be dead and with the Lord, or not.

Uncaring toward who? I will never give someone an excuse for suicide or give them comfort that suicide is just fine with God so if things get to bad go ahead and you will go to heaven. This is a lie, you cannot say that to anyone who does such a thing. What is uncaring is letting someone believe that suicide is an okay option for a Christian regardless of their mental illness.

You shall not murder.

Murder

Strong's H7523

רצח

ratsach

1) to murder, slay, kill

...a) (Qal) to murder, slay

........1) premeditated

........2) accidental

........3) as avenger

........4) slayer (intentional) (participle)

...b) (Niphal) to be slain

...c) (Piel)

........1) to murder, assassinate

........2) murderer, assassin (participle)(subst)

...d) (Pual) to be killed

No matter how people try to justify suicide, it can not be done. Are they accepted into His grace? Only God knows for sure. The question is, is the person willing to loose everything for pain that will pass?

Before you even try to question if I understand, my answer will be yes. I have tried to commit suicide myself more then once before turning to God. I understand the pain that drives someone to this decision.

The question is how many bi-polar Christians have gone ahead and killed themselves because they thought they would go to heaven and assured of that by well meaning people? I want NO part of that type of advice. How can you say this thread is not about the merits of suicide or not?

My first priority is ensuring Christians don't commit self murder, I am not interested in providing comfort and help for this horrible act or am I worried about the relatives and loved ones of those who have already done this thing, as Christ said we must worry about the LIVING, not the dead.

So if people are considering suicide keep in mind there is NO way to know for sure that you would go to heaven given that you would die in a state of taking your own life without the possibility to repent for that sin, make no mistake killing yourself is a grave sin. Can we say for sure you will go to hell? No we cannot say that, we cannot say that about anyone anywhere. But if you are given the choice of dying in the middle of a grave sin or not, which would be the safest course for your soul?

We can't say for sure the man or women who dies in the midst of adultery or drunkeness or in the very act of killing another person would go to hell either, but would you want to risk that?

Well said.

The best way to answer this is by asking ourself what we believe it takes for a person to get to heaven. According to the bible we know that there is only one way to heaven. We know that we can't save ourself and that we have to depend on Jesus to save us. If we can't save ourself and it is all about Jesus as scripture proclaims, then to say that a person can some how stop the process that only Jesus can accomplish by taking their own life discounts the price that was paid for that soul. Jesus paid the debt in full (past, present and future) for those who are called by His name.

I have personally experienced a situtation where a brand new christian (a young boy of 12 years old) accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour one weekend. He lived in a very abusive home. The next weekend the boys stepmom refused to allow him to attend church and beat him instead. She then left to go to the store. The boy went into the closet and hung himself with a belt. I know that this young boy had a sad life and could see no way out except the way he chose. I also know that he had a relationship with Jesus and is now in the arms of the Lord.

There is only one unpardonable (unforgiveable) sin and that is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 12:31

Since suicide is not blasphemy of the Holy Spirit it stands to reason that if a person has accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour suicide is not going to send them to hell.

If there is a way that a person can be removed from the book of life I have not found it in scripture. Even in Hebrew 6 it says that if one can be removed then they can never regain it again since that would mean Jesus would have to be recrucified and Jesus Himslef says He finished the job once for all (past present and future).

So I believe the answer is again what do you believe it takes to gain heaven? Each of us has to answer that question for ourself.

I had an uncle do this by cop several months ago. I remember praying and asking the Lord if he was redeemable. Nothing is ever so bad that we should take our own life, there is always hope. We all have different mindsets at times as well, though we are called to be Christ like. I do not support another person taking their own life in any form, but I believe in the end the Father will judge, imo.

I remember someone asking this very same question here. They were actually going to kill themself and the only thing that stopped them was not knowing the answer.

This is a dangerous topic and should not be discussed in an open forum.

There are people who come through here looking for answers and if this was one of their questions, how would you feel if your answer was the one that pushed them over the edge?

Something to think about.

I SO agree with that, man. None of us are qualified to answer. I pray the OP will get treatment for the depression.

Man is correct - I remember that discussion.

That is why I answered the way I did.

There is only one way I can truly answer the question -

If you are asking for yourself, you have to ask the Lord what would happen to you.

If you are asking on behalf of someone else - again, you will have to ask the Lord for an answer.

I've been in both places . . . and the Lord really did provide answers both times.

Really!

As He always does....for those who are willing to hear Him.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
