"Confusedpiece" thought he could reply this answer. :emot-highfive:

First he read Bible randomly. Soon he thought it isn't the best way to read Bible to finish as whole. And he was so determined to finish whole Bible by reading from first to last order as one whole book and started reading from Genesis. Soon, again, he thought it isn't the best way to read Bible and left in the middle, though he finished Genesis to 2 Kings. While reading OT books he missed NT books.

So, now, he alternates OT and NT Books. Eg. After reading Genesis he reads Matthew and so on. He thinks this is the best way to read Bible.

However, "confusedpiece" hasn't completed whole Bible yet . He believes that one day he will. He is in Luke now, and then he will be reading Psalms.

He wonders if anyone have ever tried this reaading plan "Whole Bible in a day" !!!

I tried this way and kinda like it. I don't like reading chronologically because it takes ages to get to the NT, and I like to read a bit of psalms and proverbs each day. Some of the minor prophets in the OT, and epistles in the NT, are really short so you have to kinda fudge it a bit.

andy, I also like to read a Psalm or Proverb everyday. :emot-highfive:

I have a system that works for me (everyone is different and there is no set method) - There are some mornings where I will be in the NT following my regular reading and then through a word or words, I may look up in the "Bible dictionary", it will lead to other parts of the Bible and funnily enough, the verses will be all interlocked. This is the Holy Spirit guiding me and showing me things. It's wonderful. :emot-heartbeat:

I also know of people who read OT in the morning, Psalm or Proverb at midday and NT in the evening.

Everyone is different.

I do what they call "bible-dippin'" - where I open the bible to a random page and read. God has spoken to me several times when I did that, but I wouldn't really recommend it for beginner bible readers/newer Christians. It's not really a fruitful method, but that's what I do. I'm too disorganized at the moment to really stick to a bible reading schedule. *makes mental note to start doing that again*

For anyone who would like to browse through some reading plans, here's a good page to browse through: Zondervan Bible Reading Plans I like the way it goes by themes. I currently have the Heartlight bible plan - but haven't really committed to that. There are also plans in the back of some bibles =).

Just as side advice: If you have committed yourself to a bible reading plan, don't be discouraged if you get behind. What has happened to me is that I sometimes get behind and skim through some of the chapters just to catch up to the plan. And...that's not right. That's part of the reason why I discontinued. Whichever method you use to read the bible - make sure you read it properly in that it's read wholeheartedly (and not grudgingly - not because you have to, but because you want to) and it also should be read prayerfully...God speaks in those moments when you least expect Him to =).

I don't like reading chronologically because it takes ages to get to the NT, and I like to read a bit of psalms and proverbs each day.

Here's another program - I had to re-find it.

Scroll down to "12-month Bible reading schedule - Free"

There's actually a 12-month and 6-month program.

Every day contains a reading from the OT, the NT, the Psalms, and the Proverbs.

How do you go about reading your bible? Seems that each day when I go to read it, I just open it up at a random book and read the book or a few chapters. It is all over the place. Do you have a technique or system or something?

I start in Genesis, and read straight through till the end of Revelations. When I am done, I start over again.

That's awesome, Butero! I wish I could be so disciplined..... :whistling:

I mostly listen to the Bible when I am not doing some kind of research on a subject or word. I'm a auditory learner and get more out of listening than reading when I'm just trying to let the Bible tell me things and not looking for something in particular.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
