Wow this is an awesome thread! Amen!

Here is my feeling about all of this...

we should never judge a person, but a person's actions.

in judging actions we should not be judging them as in looking down at the person to feel superior, but in an attempt to help someone grow closer to God.

I am in total agreeance with so many here, i want others to judge my actions and to help me cast out specks and logs from my eyes.

I do think that it is very important to examine ourselves before we confront others for a couple of reasons.

1-it will have less ffect if you tell someone they are doing wrong if you are doing a similar wrong.

2-Jesus wants us all to be holy therefore God will use other people's lives to show us our own sin and need for improvement as well.

Sir Gareth, I agree with the person after you. I love the tone of this entire post. Just to add... a verses I've been working on while studying meekness..

"Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual restore such an one in the spirit of meekness, considering thyself lest thou also be tempted.

Bear ye one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.

If any man think himself to be something, when he nothing, he decieveth himself." Gal 6:1-3

The Bible talks so many about rebuking one another and the proverbs are filled with how we should be able and willing to take rebuke. When it comes to someone offending us, the Bible commands us to go and talk to that person without discovering the issue to another, and if the person hears you, then you have gained a brother. This verse really jumped out in that we ought to help one another with meekness. We need to show them God's love, and part of that is showing them how the Bible says that what is being done is wrong, and depending, even how it potentially hurt them. We shouldn't think of ourselves as better or superior to them in any way as you said. Amen!

I also wanted to add how important it is to follow the Holy Spirit when judging others actions.

That way we are following God's judgement and not letting our own thoughts and feelings get in the way of God's will.

As many have already said it is important to be willing to be judged also, our pride can get in the way too much and we end up getting angry or defensive when someone confronts us over our sin.

If we're not willing to be judged by other believers we are not living fully under God's guidance, in my humble opinion anyway.

Amen. Agree 100% We have to follow the Holy Spirit's leading or we will mess it up every time, and we need to be Spirit-controlled in our responses as well when someone gives us rebuke. Amen.

If you don't mind me asking though, I'm loving the flow of this thread (AMEN!), but how do you deal with someone who is wrongly rebuking with a superiority complex?

"Judge not lest you be judged. You therefore have no right to judge me when it comes to my sins!!"

The world often takes this verse out of context and uses it to accuse Christians of being "judgmental" when they speak of sin. In the context of the verse Jesus is telling His disciples not to judge one another, something the Bible condemns (Romans 14:10; James 4:11). In Luke 6:41,42 He speaks of seeing a speck in a brother's eye. In John 7:24 He said, "Judge not according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgement." If someone steals, lies, commits adultery or murder, etc., the Christian can make a (righteous) judgement and say the the actions were morally wrong, and that these sins will have eternal consequences.

"True tolerance is not a total lack of judgment. It's knowing what should be tolerated-and refusing to tolerate that which shouldn't."

-Chuck Colson

How DARE you even bring the subject up! I hope you have SPF 10,000 sunscreen my friend, because you are going to HELL! Hell, I say! And I'm pretty sure you smell, have bad table manners, and kick puppies!

First thing i do is to try and explain my stance with scripture, if i can't then i need to change my stance to match scripture.

If the person still persists even after i have used scripture to justify myself i of course pray for themand try to talk itout, unfortunatly sometimes you just have to walk away and not let a person get to you, in the end you can only do so much and the rest is up to God and the person in question.

The big problem I see these days is that people are too afraid of what others think of them and not concerned enough of how God sees them. If God places us in a position where we see someone sinning, and say nothing, are we doing His will?

Amen Onelight, no we are probably not doing His will, especially in the case of someone we know to be saved. For us to judge an unsaved person? I think a different route needs to be followed in this regard - more of a pointing towards Jesus and the good news?

Yes, there is a difference ... We are to help with our brothers and sisters when we see them in sin, a warning through scripture. Unbelievers are always in sin because of the nature of the beast, us. Foro them, salvation is what is needed. Tell them the truth and let the Holy Spirit work in them; being an example for Christ in all we do.

I've never heard that one....tell me!

I was walking across a bridge one day and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. So I ran over and said,

"Stop! Don't do it!"

"Why shouldn't I?" he said.

"Well, there is so much to live for."

"Like what?"

"Well, are you religious?"

He said yes.

I said, "Me too! Are you Christian or Buddhist?"

"Christian."

"Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?"

"Protestant."

"Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?"

"Baptist."

"Wow, me too! Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord?"

"Baptist Church of God."

"Me too! Are you Original Baptist Church of God or are you Reformed Baptist Church of God?"

"Reformed Baptist Church of God."

"Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1879, or are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915?"

He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915."

I said, "Die, heretic," and pushed him off. Emo Philips

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
