Killer whales are just that: killer whales, wild & fierce predators whether in the ocean or a Seaworld exhibit. Ours is a broken world where danger & death loom large on all sides. Man is vastly superior to animals as he is made in the image of God. If one is fearful of killer whales or crocodiles, 'tis best to keep one's distance from them. It's not how close one can come to predators, but how far away can one stay. Right on! You can take that to the bank

Not when you are standing in front of one of these when you come across it unexpectedly (I have been up a few trees in my career). Then lets see who is the more superior (but I get your point)

It would be dificult to make a case for against things like zoos, Seaworld, etc. from the Bible. Working with wild animals always comes at a risk to the handler. I am sorry for the loss

A company that gets its employees to work closely with an animal linked with two previous deaths must have some questions to answer.

Isaw this story on fox and i was stunned to find out the history behind this whale. It already kill another PERSON! It has just killed a second! BUT BECAUSE ITS A MONEY MAKER AND A STUD THEY WILL KEEP IT AND REVIEW THE POLICY! Apparently cask is king and man is expendable! Sea world should get a law suit out this. This whale should have never made it across the pond. They should let it go back to the wild and justis will occur! I love animals, I have two dogs of my own, but if one of them ever turn on me or my children, they will be gone.

I read that the whale would not be able to survive in the ocean after being so long in captivity and that was the reason Sea World had to keep it and have to take care of it.

I doubt it will ever be a show whale again because they won't be able to find a trainer to work with the whale.

Animals have been killing their keepers throughout history, people even get killed by cows. I think there is way too much importance being placed on this event. If you don't like whales in shows, don't go to the shows. I went once as a kid, it is boring.

Whales are in danger because of what man does in the whales natural environment. The fact that there are a few whales in tanks has very little impact on that.

The whale has actually killed three people now. But it doesn't know any better and should just be released (after being reintroduced to the wild.) But, I'm with you; if a dog of mine ever attacked my family or me....I wouldn't hesitate to shoot him. I would suffer terrible anguish if it ever came to that though. (Luckily, my little Chihuahua couldn't maul ANYONE.) People should have better sense than to trust their lives to a wild animal. How hard is that to figure out? I'm sorry this lady is dead but I don't believe the whale is to blame. I blame the woman and her employers.

Hi,

Earlier today a trainer at Sea World in Florida lost her life while working with the Orcas(killer whales). My heart goes out to her family, her friends, and her co-workers. Especially when this should of never happened.

To keep an animal in an area so small(for our own amusement)...when they normally would have an ocean...well, it just dosen't seem right.

Does anyone think this is what God had in mind when He gave mankind "dominion" over the animals of this planet?

I don't. I see I'm going to have to check these verses again.

These animals are very well treated, Treetop. I would prefer that they live in their natural habitat as well but, from all I've heard about this particular whale, she was well adjusted, socialized and has produced offspring. It's not the ideal environment but they DO live pretty normal lives. The problem is that they are still wild animals; they are not domesticated like cats and dogs. Humans need to use good judgment when interacting with very large wild animals such as this one. She does not have human judgment, after all, and isn't responsible for her actions.

I'm intrigued by your reply. I don't know how a human being can say that this whale is living a pretty normal life...in captivity. I've been locked up and there was nothing normal about it. Maybe I'm a bit extreme...but these whales should not be in captivity...especially for the amusement of humans. They should be where God created them to be...in the ocean. And in some strange way, I really believe this has a lot to do with how we take care of our earth. And so far...we haven't been doing such a good job of that either. So maybe it's no surprise that this happened today, this woman's death. How many more need to die? This is not the first time this has happened. And, unless people let these animals get back to their own environment...sad, but it will probably happen again.
