I think this ties in with the often repeated "God has a wonderful plan for your life."

That kind of bugs me when people say that to unbelievers when witnessing. I mean, was it a "wonderful plan" for the Apostles (except John) and many in the early church to suffer torture and die horrible deaths?

Look at how many are suffering for their faith and being killed worldwide day after day.

I know God's purposes are good, and that He will work all things out to that end, but I think the whole "wonderful plan" thing is getting hopes up in unbelievers that if they come to Christ, all of their problems will be over.

Solomon spoke about life and finding happiness. He was very sure to note that happiness does not come from our pursuits. It comes from enjoying what God has provided.

Ecc 9:4-10 KJV

(4) For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.

(5) For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

(6) Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.

(7) Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.

(8) Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment.

(9) Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.

(10) Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

So God provided us with many things that bring happiness.Food,wine,marriage.All these things are here for our pleasure.

We should make the most of these simple pleasures...even our work/labour.

He who heeds the word wisely

will find good,

And whoever trusts in the LORD,

happy is he.

Proverbs 16 v 20

I believe happiness is the manifestation/outcome of God's provision and also the outcome of our obedience...

Proverbs 29 v 18:

Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint;

But happy is he who keeps the law.

Meaning within the "law" and being obedient, we will find God's provision and protection rather than being reckless and casting off boundaries and laws....we will find happiness in God's provision in our obedience leading us to a being happy and knowing we can rest in Him....

A song we used to sing in Sunday school

Happy happy happy,

Happy in the Lord

Praise God I'm born again

And trusting in His Word

I want you to know

How happy I am

For I am Happy happy happy

In the Lord!! Amen! :emot-pray:

Excellent point!

Ive seen some folks make the claim that God just wants our happiness, and since the person was not happy in their marriage any more (they fell out of love etc) then its ok to divorce their spouse. Clearly that is wrong. They are claiming its ok to be disobedient and God will ok it just to make them happy.

I would have to say, according to the word of God written here, that the Lord does want us to be happy.

JOB 5:17

Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

Psalm 144:15

Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.

Proverbs 3:13

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

James 5:11

Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy

To Know Him

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

Jeremiah 15;16

Is To Love Him

As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

Psalms 42:1

And I Do

Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

Psalms 63:3

Maranatha!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
