I'm not sure what you mean by the above but I think it's a good idea to have major firepower waiting just outside their territorial waters. Of course, those crazies that are running Iran welcome death and destruction so it may not deter them. Deter them or eliminate them; makes no difference to the end game.

I'm not sure what you mean by the above but I think it's a good idea to have major firepower waiting just outside their territorial waters. Of course, those crazies that are running Iran welcome death and destruction so it may not deter them. Deter them or eliminate them; makes no difference to the end game.

Agreed. This type of buildup is a normal part of the diplomatic process. It is a communication device (much like John F. Kennedy's blockade of Cuba was a comminication device).

Isn't this because of Iran's 'war games'? I remember reading something this past week about the build up of American and others naval presence in response to Irans exercises.

It's not really news... and given the circumstances with those lunatics, it's not a bad move to have a US presence standing by - it may do more to promote peace ... you know, carry a big stick..

I see that the Germans will be sending a Frigate too.

It's interesting that the Germans, the U.S., and Britain are also meeting over the huge economic situation looming on the horizon. What you are seeing manifest wth Europes economy is only the tip of the iceberg.

It is hard to comment on a story when it never tells why Obama wants this build-up? Is he planning on using the military and the threat of force to cause Iran to come to some kind of agreement regarding their nuclear program and is he prepared to use force if necessary?
