Rapture Tube

Let me roll a "Holy Hand Grenade" into this discussion.

Considering the fact that the Pre Trib Rapture the way that the modern Church depicts it wasn't even part of the Churches belief's until the 1800's it's pretty silly.

I just thought about this while responding to another topic. Many, many years ago when I was in my early teens I visited a church that had a "Rapture Tube."

Do you remember the name of this church?

Perhaps they have a website with pics?

Good Lord, no! That was way, WAY too long ago for me to remember!

Seriously, I can barely even remember my own name. I do think it was somewhere in Alabama.... yeah, that should narrow it down a bit!

Seriously, one of the earlier replies had a link to the only picture I've seen of one, and it's from the outside. Seeing it from the inside is what's really amazing, since the one I saw was made of glass, meaning you could see straight up to the sky.

Very strange, but also magnificent to behold. Maybe that's the purpose. They're trying to inspire people to get on the right side? I just don't know.

I'm not sure how this would be logical. I mean, people are supposed to be raptured from wherever they happen to be at that moment. Why would a church need a tube?

as a gimmick? I'm fairly sure that God isn't going to suck up people like a vacuum cleaner and I this is possibly one of the craziest things I've ever heard.

It brings to mind that little lizard that gets sucked up a mail chute in the Gieco commercials.

I hadn't even thought of that. Now I can't stop imagining people getting sucked up just like he did.

Well, it would be good architecture for a congregation that teaches the pre - trib rapture. A way to let people know what their church teaches. Personally I really do wish they were right, but that's a whole other 100 page thread.

Also I am working on a portable rapture tube. Works as fast as an airbag, so you might have time to deploy it. (I take no responsibility if you deploy it by accident in a bus or the back seat of a cab).....
