there are a LOT of christian families like the duggers.... big, i mean. my brother is a photographer and used to do homeschool portraits in dallas... he had MANY clients with anywhere from 8 to 14 children. those families just just aren't on tv. and really, the duggers didn't do all this for the publicity anyway. they were a huge family of about 15 or so when they did their first tv special... back then, they were scraping to make ends meet, and it was really a blessing to watch the specials. they pinched pennies and scraped nickles and pretty much did everything themselves. they were even building their own house, and the kids were definitely doing their share. it was very slow progress.

and then, extreme makeover home edition stepped in and finished their house. well, did most of it really, because the duggers barely even had the foundation poured and frame built after three years, and then the tv show came in and did it in a week, making it far more extravagant than the duggers would have done.

after that, well, they suddenly were on tv every single week, making millions off their tv shows. i'm sure they're all living quite comfortably, even the oldest son and his new wife and child.... does the oldest son even have a job outside of the show? it's a disappointment to me. those kids are growing up not knowing how to live without a camera in their face. and if it's exploitation for kate and her 8, or octomom and all hers, then it's exploitation for these kids too.

I tried looking at it and began to scream at the television and at her husband. The lady keeps having all these kids and the kids keep having to take care of each other and then she gets pregnant with another child and they almost die...just to have great trips , be on Good Morning America ...and they are still counting

BUT I have to give it to them, they family LOOKS like they have it together, and they are a Christian family. But couldn't they had done it with three kids?

The Duggers.... Yeah, I'm glad they have healthy children and seem to be blessed.... I too, am thinking that enough is enough. That said, they claim not to rely on any public assistance and are debt free so, if they have 50 - so be it. I still wonder about how much real quality time they can have one on one with that many kids...

LOL they make me tired too... just watching them fix breakfast makes me want to crawl back in bed!

Well, they seem to be a nice, God fearing family but after this last baby (born prematurely and with health problems) I am hoping they stop...before they lose a child or the mother's health is compromised. She is forty something now; too old to be having babies.

Criminal Minds is my favoriate show.

We haven't had dish up until about three monts ago, so there is much that I haven't seen. I do know that we are not going to have cenimax very long after the movie that was on when I woke up the other night after going to sleep in the middle of an early movie....... Lordy, I didn't know such things was allowed on any form of TV. If my wife had come in while that was on, I'd have never have lived it down.

We have a dish on our RV and it really helps keeping up with the weather when we're out in the boonies camping.

Love Criminal Minds! But, yeah, the premium channels are full of what can only be described as soft porn. Not for me either!

Do you really think watching Lord of the Rings will cause you to be the kind of person who would go to hell? I really don't understand that. Some of the late nnight might. Cenemax runs pure porn some nights. Took me a while to learn how to block them out. I kept falling asleep when better movies were playing around 8 or 9 o"clock and waking up to people having sex on my tv at midnight. I'm thinking of just dropping the whole package instead of blocking them out. I'm not comfortable giving anyone my money who shows things of that nature.

Television was a big part of my life. I liked reality crime shows a lot, and I liked to watch some pretty vulgar smut, like Adult Swim, and movies like American Psycho were on my list of favorites. I actually read The Hobbit and also many Stephen King novels. I did all of these things and more of the same things that people accuse me of being ignorant about. I even watched the Lord of the Ring trilogy, and I enjoyed it. But, the whole time I did these things I knew in my heart that I was hell bound for them. I may not have been called away from these things and into the light yet, but I still knew sin and what sin is. I mean it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure these things out.

I don't watch television anymore.

And I'll bet you aren't missing it at all, are you? I'm thinking of letting it go myself.
