Grace to you,

Maybe it's just me.:noidea: I hate that saying now that I'm saved. I understand the sentiment and all but I don't need Luck because I have Grace.

When someone wishes me luck I always state, "Thanks, pray for me because I'm a child of God. I'm a blessed man and don't need luck."

Is that too forward? Why are people offended by that? It's like, "Hey! Break a leg!" I always softly speak the name of Jesus and wonder why someone would want to curse me.:o

Am I just being a crank?

peace,

Dave

Luck is the element of chance where everything goes right. Many people have a superstition of luck being based on karma. But we have a wonderful God who reveals to us more and more, that everything is in His hands.

I like to say when someone say something to me, "I don't believe in luck, I believe in God."

The person will sometimes say, "I don't believe in God."

And I'll respond, "Well, He believes in you."

I do not use the expression....I don't even use the expression 'G-d bless you' very often, because if can become glib and stale, and just another way of saying 'good luck' but with religious words.

So what do you say instead?

No!..I stand with you. Whenever someone wish me luck, I always reply...If there was any thing to luck...the toothpick would still be part of a tree. :P

The last few months I have been saying Shalom Aleichem to people and if someone says good luck to me I say aleichem shalom, translation, peace be upon you and upon you be peace. I usually get some strange looks although sometimes I get asked what it means and that can lead into some great discussions with others. Luck doesn't have much to do with anything really, God provides, we mess up, we hopefully learn from our mistakes and God guides and directs, we still mess up and He still provides!

It's such a commonplace saying that I usually just ignore it. I know I don't need 'luck' nor do I believe in bad or good luck ... It's one of those things I don't spend too much time thinking about - but if you feel compelled to explain it to others - maybe you should.

I'm the same way. I'm very hesitant to say "good luck" to anyone. I know I do say it out of habit though but it doesn't really have meaning to me.

I wont say good luck to anyone unless I mean it sarcastically as in yea good luck getting that to someone trying to get something impossible. I will say I wish you all the best, or all the best instead of good luck. As a Christian I know luck is not involved in anything.

Ecclesiastes 9:11. I am not saying that God doesnt work out things for the ones he loves. But sometimes in life you are just lucky, and that to comes from God.

That is one of the paraphrase versions (and a bad one at that). The hebrew word refers to occurance, not random luck. I recommend you use a study bible, esword, strongs concordance etc and not get doctrine from the message bible.

I used to have to say Good Luck, it was required as part of my job as a casino. Now if anything I prefer the term Godspeed!

I do not use the expression....I don't even use the expression 'G-d bless you' very often, because if can become glib and stale, and just another way of saying 'good luck' but with religious words.

So what do you say instead?

If it is with someone I meet, and they say it to me, I usually thank them and say I can use all the blessings from the L-rd I can get, and I hold their hand and look at them in the eyes, and send an arrow prayer to the L-rd and ask that He uses the words of my mouth to sincerely reach their heart with what I say....so it varies every time, and if I have picked something up in the spirit about that person I will gear my words around it....For example if someone keeps speaking about the hard times they have been having I might say, 'May G-d strongly encourage you at all times, refresh you each day, supply all your needs and may you keep close to Him.'

It is really an expanded version of 'G-d bless you'...but I can never be complacent or indifferent if I seek G-d each time for words to say, even if they are short.

In the Church of England, there is a peculiar tradition that has become very stale, where at some point in the rather rigid format of a service you turn to one another, shake hands and say these words 'The peace of G-d be with you'...so often no one looks me in the eye, they mumble the words and move on to the next person. I make a point of trying to make eye contact, hold their hand a little longer and prayerfully speak blessings to them as I am led...some I think find it unsettling and disconcerting, but I really have no time for insincerity and play-acting, and I truly want G-d to bless people.

Please don't get the idea that I am some sort of super-spiritual type that goes around with my head in the Heavens, I am not, but I crave a bit of reality now and then.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
