Hey, I wonder if your dog is playing with my dog, Cricket, right now. What is her name ?

Her name was Sheba .....Queen of the cattle dogs

Not "was" HIS girl, "is." She's still alive remember ? Just somewhere else. It's not "goodbye", it's "until later."

But I understand. There is a grieving process not just with humans, but with pets as well.

Our pet dog was mauled to death this morning by some other dogs and we are completely shattered.....it's like one bad thing after another lately : ( I am feeling so low at the moment.

Praying the Lord's comfort amidst the sorrow and pain.

This is the first chance I'vew had to post this. When my dog, Ella, passed someone gave me this. You may have seen it before, but maybe you'll find it comforting.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm so sorry for your lost and prayed.

I know what your family has been going through, we have Huskies and this past summer one of them came down with an ailment. The dog was named was Pixie (small for a Husky, thus the name), she could hardly eat or walk and we took her to a Veterinary. Pixie was having a liver problem and after leaving her at the hospital for a couple days we were able to bring her home, she was still fragile, but we were told it would take some time for her to get better.

The following weekend we went to a family function and when we got back from the function we were in shock, we found Pixie mauled and barely alive, a couple hours later Pixie passed away. What made matters worst is Pixie was mauled by one of our other dogs, we believe it was her brother (a litter mate).

I was angry, I wanted so bad to get my shotgun and show that dog the wrath of my anger, but something inside of me told me not to. Pixie's brother is laying next to my chair while I am posting this. My Daughter-in-law whom works as an Veterinary assistant said Pixie's brother might have killed her because he didn't want to see her suffer anymore, I don't know but I do believe dogs can sense illness and death.
