He Did Away With The Law

Col. 2:14

13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;  14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;  15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.  16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

I have included a bit of the context for the subject verse because it is so important! I am oft assaulted with this piece of heresy and it can be difficult to deal with, no matter your education level. To begin with it is essential that one be in the state of constant prayer but that is a subject for another discussion. Also it is, absolutely, essential that you surrender your daily life into the hands of the Holy

Spirit and, daily, spend no less than fifteen minutes in the study of the Word of God.

The errant idea I teach against here the idea that because the Christ fulfilled the requirements of the Mosaic Law it has passed away, is one that is prevalent with the New Testament Theology adherents and their teachers. To begin with, the Bible Jesus and His taught from disciples taught from, when we read the New Testament is composed of the first thirty-nine Books of what we, today, term, our Bible.

To begin with the very idea must be able to fly in the light of all scripture and it cannot even get past one quote, spoken by Jesus, Matt. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Heaven must become the Key Word here because any, reasonably, studied Christian knows that Heaven will pass when God, the Creator, destroys it. When we look at the structure of this sentence we see that Jesus did not say, ¨The Heavens,¨ and for this reason He is clearly speaking of the existing spiritual realm of God! The truth of the matter is that before the Earth was, Heaven had been, forever!

Next, for this idea to be easily sold, a principal I learned from my military days, must be employed and with this I am about to upset, far to, many people! For a lie, Propaganda, to be sold it must be easily digestible. This is easily accomplished because people, as a whole, are lazy making the truth contained in the lie to be about ten percent. If ten percent of the lie sounds familiar, the rest becomes, just,k commentary, wrapped around it. This is exactly how the Revisionist sells our young people the lies told today, they have heard mom, dad and other relatives say something like that!

My point here? Neither the Ten Commandments, nor the following six hundred and three examples of Life Application of the Law are the Mosaic Law. You see, words do count and they do matter. The Ten Commandments are the Law of God, they were, twice, etched or written, in stone by the finger of God, not Moses with a hammer and chisel. The six hundred and three life applications that follow are the God Inspired words of God. Moses, arguably, was the most educated man available but, even so, he was only fortunate enough to have been called by God for the purpose.

In the, rather, gross misapplication of this verse those making the error have one point correct, it applies to the Forgiven Sinner. (v. 13) On studying verse 15 we are given to understand that the sacrifice made by has made fools out of the Powers of the Earth. Going further we see that the forgiven need never to be concerned about the judgments of other men about what they eat or drink and that they need not be concerned with some that condemn because of perceived violations of the Sabbath.

All of this ¨proof¨ texting is not required among Grounded, in the Word, Christians because they know the most widely accepted and use principal of Scripture Interpretation, ¨Don´t.¨ God has anointed men, down through the years, to translate His Word from the original languages but it has never been a requirement that the Bible be interpreted. The understanding of the scriptures is a very simple thing but that is the reason it is rejected. To understand any single verse or any group of verses all we need to do is to read the Bible! Much to the distaste of the Lost Man, the Bible is self interpreting!

Consider... God is the only Infinite Being to be found. There, therefore, can be no finite being that can ever tell anybody what God meant. It therefore fell, and still falls, to God to make Himself understood. God has done exactly that! All we must do is to read... all of it.

Jesus fulfilled the law, He did not remove it.

The law was put in place to act as a mirror to man, and to show him that we cannot obey the law. It was written to show us that we cannot live sinless lives under our own power. (Remember, break one break them all?).

Jesus came to replace that mirror. Instead of ourselves in the mirror, we should now see Jesus.

And He fulfilled it in so many ways. Like instead of stoning we love? (for example).

And instead of....... We love

And instead of....... We love

And instead of....... We forgive

And instead of....... We give

etc...

If the old Mosaic Code was nailed by Jesus Christ to His Cross on Mount Calvary (as in Colossians 2:13,14), not even a follower of Ellen Gould Harmon White, the founder of 19th-century Seventh-Day Adventism could ever drag it off from there! Amen & Amen!

Paul is making an allusion to crucifixion. The Romans would nail the laws a person violated to their cross so that people could see why there were being crucified and this would act as a deterrant for others to do the same.

The point Paul is making is that the commandments we broke were nailed to Jesus' cross thus our violation of those laws were imputed to Him. He bore the punishment for our violation of God's commandments.

Paul is not saying that Mosaic law was nailed to the cross. The Mosaic law was never the problem. The purpose of the Mosaic law was to show us our sin and it did exactly what God designed it to do. It was our violation of God's law that was the problem.

If the law needed to be done away with, if getting rid of God's law would have solved the problem, Jesus would not have needed to die to accomplish that. Jesus death was necessary to pay for our sin, not to eradicate God's law.

Jesus is my subsitude me!

Jesus is my stand-in, he took the fall for me, he obeyed the law for me and now he keep it in me.

I don't keep the law, the love of God is in my heart, therefore I love and I therefore do no harm to my neighbor (steal, do no murder, covet, etc).

Just random thoughts.

There are two laws.

The Law of Moses.

The Law of Christ.

Just as the law of aerodynamics supersedes the law of gravity so the Law of Christ supersedes the Law of Moses.

Galatians 6:2 (KJV)

2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

1 Corinthians 9:19-21 (NIV)

19 Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.

20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law.

21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law.

It can also be said that by adhering to the law of Christ (John 3:16-18) we fulfill the Law of Moses because the Law of Moses was given to lead us to Christ and remains to judge those who do not come to faith in Christ.

Galatians 3:24-25 (KJV)

24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

John 5:45 (NIV)

45 “But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set.

If that were what it said you would e right but that´s not what it says, sooo... you´re trying to walk on deep water without God if you believe He did.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
