I've been struggling with this one.

I'm hypoglycemic - so going without food is a very bad thing.

I've heard of going on partial fasts - but what can I partial out?

I don't eat desserts (b/c of hypoglycemia).

I very, very, very rarely ever eat fried foods.

I don't eat red meat except maybe 2 or 3 times a month.

I prefer whole grains to white wheat products.

Besides hypoglycemia, I have a low sodium level and a low iron level.

I also have an autoimmune disease that leaves me very, very thirsty all the time.

Then there's the rheumatoid arthritic condition.

So, I have to do a balancing act with my diet, or I don't do too good.

I've discovered that I function better with a regular intake of chicken.

I do lousy without carbohydrates in my diet (blood sugar level drops substantially).

Sigh.

So, any ideas? :emot-questioned:

Fast- to go without

so go without something you love.

You wouldn't want to put yourself in danger. So you could fast from the computer. Spend that time in prayer and worship rather than on the computer.

Or phone time.

If you talk alot, give that up.

You can also fast your time.

Rather than doing something fun and for yourself, go volunteer, go to a soup kitchen or something. do something that would deny you of that thing, so that you can focus on God.

There is also a liquid fast. Is there any way that you can get the same nutrients and vitamins and stuff that you would need with the hypoglocemia, but in liquid forms? Protein shakes, and V8 Splash or anything like that. That way you could still go without food, but the liquid would sustain you with what you need so your body doesn't crash.

Also, you could try eating, but eating just enough to tie over your health stuff. Don't stuff yourself, just eat tiny portions so that you don't get sick.

That's what I was thinking. Get some cans of ensure or something like that. Has vitamins and nutrients that will help keep you from getting sick.

Do you have a juicer? Juicing carrots and apples, beets, celery,etc is VERY GOOD for your immune system.

Also, I would suggest detoxing to help your body better absorb nutrients. I can give your more info, if you like, and my prayer is that you will be healed, in Jesus mighty Name!

Nebula i too can not totally fast because of health reasons,but what i do is give up my favorite food for a time peroid.God knows and understands your heart and health so i am convinced that this type of fasting would be pleasing to Him.

Nebula, I believe too that's a matter of the heart, you can fast from food all you want, but if a person does it to feel good it means nothing to the Lord.

He wants first of all our love and obedience.

I KNOW you LOVE the LORD and want to do His will, why not ask Him what He wants you to do? I'm sure He will let you know what He wants you to do for HIM :crazy:

First you need to get with your doctor, and find out what is required for your health and what can or can not be left out.

Fasting, the entire idea was to take a time, and do nothing, not even eat while you spent the entire time in prayer and meditation of God.

Most of that has been lost in "showy" fasting where people brag about fasting and just don't eat, but spend little time in prayer for the Lord.

Fast in your heart if you need to. Spend the time with theLord in prayer and study of his word.

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house. 

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
