My local cable provider has been showing re-runs of The Brady Bunch. To my surprise, I've been drawn to this program - watching it whenever I get the chance.

It's amazing to me how far Television has sunk. I watch an episode of TBB, and afterward, I can hardly watch anything else on TV. It's all about "reality" television, full of people who can't form a single sentence without using a (bleeped out) curse word - except of course when they use God's name in vain. That word passes the censors with no problem.

Watching a program these days is like listening to a traffic jam during rush hour. Beep! Beep! Beep!

What happened to shows that had comedy/drama mixed with a nice wholesome message?

The only shows I can remember from when I was younger that came close (other than some great "Nickelodeon" shows) were "7th Heaven," "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman," and "Touched By An Angel," - yet even some of those episodes were pushing the boundaries.

Anyone else ready to give up television altogether?

Oh yes. That is one reason I have chosen to not have a television reception any longer.Yes,their are nature shows and cooking shows on but I have made a choice to not see any of it.I remember the days of "I Love Lucy".As a married couple they could not show them in the same bed together on television. They had to give them twin days.Oh how our days have changed. But their has been alot of desenitization and most people do not care.

I don't watch current tv, but I have all four seasons of The Wild Wild West (from the 60's) loaded on this computer, as well as the complete series of Ellery Queen starring Jim Hutton (from the 70's?). So I can watch some good shows whenever I want to. :D

I already did. :) Honestly, part of that is because I cannot afford to buy a TV is first place. The second reason is that I'd lost most of my taste for most TV programs long ago and don't miss it. When I moved to an unfurnished apartment I left the TV behind and haven't really missed it that much.

Ummm...no..not ready....there is always the history channels, Nat Geo, Pets (ruff ruff), Bio, those old b/w movies (some of those actually have a plot but I don't watch a whole alot of those)

tech programs...like finding out about new software etc, no cooking shows tho, cannot stand the unreality shows (I'm with u on that one), how to shows...and I like a few of the shows where

they give you a choice of either keeping your house after a ginormous upgrade or moving to a new one they find for you, and I like those cake bake off shows once in awhile cause I

just cannot believe what they can make for a cake LOL!..I also like good SciFi ...not the gory nonsense, but something with a plot and mysteries are good too...hmmm...apparently I can

aways find something to watch! LOL!

But yeah, the modern sitcoms are just not funny and full of inuendo and it seems every line out of somebody's mouth is a putdown...I used to like Frasier (although sometimes it was pretty

suggestive...but often just good laughs)..

I like movies tho...good mysteries, drama, and I have to say I am really into all the special effects prob because I like messing around in photoshop so much myself and appreciate all

the computer generated scenes ...well I may not be that hard to please after all hahaha...don't tell my husband that tho ;)

Speaking of my husband, he does not watch much TV ( he is a news buff news news news) but I know what he likes so if there is something on I know he will watch, I let him know...we watched

that new series on the Bible Sunday night but we were both somewhat disappointed. I watched the new show after that too..."Vikings" I will flip to an alternate channel when something comes

on I don't want to see...there are some images I don't want in my mind

I sometimes watch two things at once...OK....that's prob too much info

Then we always do have the 'off' button

In the home I live in the TV is on from when the first person gets up (not me) to when the same person goes to bed - I simply hate it.

I hate reality programs, Idol, Survivor, the Bachelor and Bachelorette (strangely enough, my 96 year old mom loves those), I could go on.

They don't make TV for me any more, I like "man" movies (shoot em ups).

I sure would not like the TV on all day either...I watch at night when I watch...there actually is a movie entitled 'Shoot 'em Up"...it's very violent though

I did already, too. I'm tired of my memory cells replaying the junk.

We haven't had a TV for a long time. We do have Netflix though. No commercials, no wait time, and no reality shows.

reality tv shows stink, often for that same reason-to many cusswords, not clean, etc. With one exception, go duck dynasty!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
