:emot-questioned: Does anyone care to comment on the context of what he was saying?

Neb, I listened to the video and I don't think he really said enough for me to understand the context of what he's getting at.... I would have to think that there is information that I've never heard of to make a statement like that.

Again, what he said was:

"Do you know why Jesus was killed by the Romans?"

"...by the Romans" is directing the questions for why the Roman soldiers would have come after Jesus to arrest him and so on.

That's the context.

I don't understand what you're getting at. Doesn't "Jesus was killed because of taxes" answer that question?

I understand that Neb, I just don't have a clue as to how Taxes figure into it.... I know that the Romans were taxing the Jewish people, but that's really not pertaining to Jesus death as far as I have read anything.

It would be nice to understand how he came to that conclusion.

Personally, I think he's just trying to generate interest in his next book.

I don't either. But the point is the original statement claimed O'Reilly said Jesus was killed because of taxes as if it were his religious, or non-religious, claim on the matter.

But the context is he claims this is why the Romans had Jesus put to death. Thus, he wasn't actually making some anti-Biblical claim as far as why the Sanhedrin had Jesus put to death, or why Jesus gave over His life.

Thus, my point is that we should critique him on what his actual claim is.

Granted, I'm not comfortable with him writing a political book based on "the passion of Christ," but let us not erect a straw man in this.

Wernt the Romans were only placating the Pharisee`s demands?

Either way its possibly true, as the "love of money" is the root of all kinds of evil.

I am not a B.O. fan. Never really cared for him.

Funny how people are always looking for a man or woman to follow. (Not meaning you, O.P.) :)

I am speaking in general.

An to a man, every leader has failed and proven to be a frail, weak, vulnerable human being like the rest of us.

Oh, some may hide it for a time.

But they all fail.

Except for Jesus.

Why he isn't good enough for people to follow is beyond me.

Jesus expects too much from us, is my guess.

I mean, saved by grace alone through faith alone... and if we confess our sins he is faithful to forgive us (keep on forgiving us the Greek says)... and he who confesses and forsakes his sin shall have mercy...

So in one sense he doesn't expect too much from us (knowing what rotters we really are).

But in another sense, he expects us not to hoard wealth in the last days... to help the poor the sick the imprisoned the naked... to become the ministers each and every one of us are called to be as a kingdom of priests...

You know... in other words he asks too much of us...

We'd rather pass out duty bound responsibility to the Lord who saved us at great personal cost... onto some "professional" Christian like the pastor or staff... while we live like we want to in the self made kingdoms of greed and leisure and ease... show up on Sundays occasionally... IF pastor so-n-so doesn't offend us or bore us...

Al too familiar...

Bill O'Reilly this...

Rush Limbaugh that...

Anne Coulter the other...

While they were demonizing the Left wing all these years the greedy rich stole our nation (America) out from under us!

What does that say about them?

I could easily list Church leaders who essentially rolled out the red carpet for those who stole America as much as their 501 C3 allowed them to... making it appear that their way is God's way.

Funny, when you read the Bible for God's side of these things... he's interested in looking out for the poor. Not in such a way that it is a write off from taxes but in a real honest effort in finances and food and medicine and shelter.

And not hand outs either. He told the Jews not to reap to the very edge of their properties to allow the edges and the corners for the poor to work (glean). No hand out. But a provision that would stab through the heart of most greedy @#$^|]$ who would sell their own mother into sex slavery to support their livelihood.

And we (yes me too) followed these bozos and voted the way they said would be best for everybody... which when I think back on it I am sickened by the fact that I voted against the well being of my own family so some silver spoon could have a 12th mansion somewhere posh in the world.

"The private sector creates jobs..." they told us... only the left off the rest of the statement... "creates jobs... overseas."

I don't know who is more stupid... those who tore down the protection at the borders for American labor and small business... or we who keep reelecting them to run what's left of the nation.

Gingrich chaired NAFTA and GATT. Rather than impeach and imprison him, we let him run for POTUS. And he nearly got the GOP nomination.

Then comes the next point. People I have worked with in the apologetics mission field who I fought JW's and Mormons with elbow to elbow with still see nothing wrong with voting for an LDS President of the formerly Christian United States of America.

Let that hang out there for a moment in cyber space as we all consider just how much we have sold our souls to the devil to keep our lifestyles of foremost importance.

I sound the alarm in the town I live over the invasion of LDS and JW's and no one raises an eyebrow. No one signs up to accompany me door to door undoing the damage the cults have done with their false form of Christianity.

People can't be bothered.

They don't want to rock the boat.

They don't want to stop doing their thing to put out the spiritual conflagration about to erupt in their small town.

I'm going to put the period there. My intense frustration is showing.

OK, what O'Reilly said was, "Do you know why Jesus was killed by the Romans?"

So he wasn't saying this is why Jesus "lay down His life," nor why the Sanhedrin sought His death, but rather why the Romans would have arrested and charged Him.

So, I don't think he was being heretical in this regard.

Whether he's being accurate, I don't know. Scripture tells us what charge the Sanhedrin brought before Pilate, but it doesn't state how they got the Roman soldiers to arrest Jesus in the first place.

The Sanhedrin had to bring Jesus to Pilate and make Him out to be an enemy of the state. They could have stoned Jesus, but the feared the people because the people saw Jesus as a prophet.

They threatened Pilate. What I learned was that Pilate's career was hanging from a thread. Being assigned as a procurator over Judea was not a promotion. It was the last chance before losing his career and possibly exile. There is a very strong tradition that Pilate was finally sent out to remote outpost in what is now Switzerland because of he botched.the handling of a Samaritan uprising. It was in Switzerland that it is said he committed suicide and they have mountain named after him in Switzerland.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
