I remember reading in another forum someone having a question about a verse that Paul wrote, to have many people on this forum state that it was Paul's words not God's (and no it was not I Corinthians 7).  Basically many on this other forum; and I have also heard of others stating that Paul Writing are not God's Holy Word, it seems they have forgotten Peter words in II Peter 3:15-16.

So why do many in the Church question the Writings of Paul?

Posted

My guess is that they just don't like some of the things Paul says. Since Paul disagrees with them, it has to be Paul who is mistaken, certainly not them. Just arrogance, pride, rebellion, that sort of thing.

Well said.

I have run into people who discount Pauls writings. I have found most I have interacted with the discount Pauls epistles are those who want to add law or works to the equation, since Paul is heavily grace oriented.

On the other side, there are groups who will only accept Pauls writings as valid for them. One group reasons that since Paul was the Apostle to the Gentiles and they are Gentile, only Pauls writing are directly applicable to them.

If they dismiss the authority of the Word ... they are free to ignore the need to implement into their life! Love, Steven

This may be a valid point as I know many of these people think that James and Paul preached two different Gospels.

I know you are right about this Qnts2, but I have notice it is more definitely more people questioning Paul, than the other New Testament Writers.

So true...it makes me curious as well....and then there are those who interpret all other scriptures through select portions of Paul (as if these are the proof texts the rest of God's word must be sifted through)

In His name

Paul

Yes as Qnts2, stated this is true.  But I have noticed that most who want to question Paul's writing IMO seem to want to bound us unto the beggarly elements of the law, Galatians 4:8-11

I have heard that a few men sat at a meeting for the purpose of declaring portions of the Bible as just the opinion of men and as not of God. They essentially reduced the Bible to the Gospels and then picked through them to declare portions to be not of Christ. I will try to think of their names. Brian McLaren may have been one. I will search some more.

Yes, I've seen this on more than one occasion, it typically goes something like this: "That's what Paul says, not what Jesus says." There's also an academic movement that's been getting up steam for the past 10 years or so that claims that Paul didn't even write some of the epistles that are attributed to him, which is in the complete opposite direction (the primary reasoning being that if Paul was inspired that he would've never written such things).

Some of the other chief claims coming from churches who adopt a more social doctrine is that Paul was a misogynist (not the least of reasons being because of how he lays out local congregational structure) and a bigot (mainly because of Romans 1). I tend to think that these are becoming some of the loudest voices with regard to this particular topic.

Jesus gave Paul the authority to be his vessel, who am I to disagree with GOD's delegate.

Similar to the Jews who disagreed with Moses, You can read what happened to them.

Posted

.... So why do many in the Church question the Writings of Paul?

~

Paul means small and in light of the whole counsel of God he is no bigger or better than any other...we live by EVERY Word....

~

Why?

Because They

Or Their Teachers

Will Not Believe The Christ

But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake. Acts 9:15-16

So They Nibble On His Apostle, Brother Paul

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20

To Their Eternal Shame

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:1-16

May The LORD Bless The Reading Of His Holy Word

To His Honor And His Glory

In Jesus' Name

Amen

Many in the church today prefer and follow  a liberal political  agenda and  are not really born again.  In essence, they have changed God's Word to suit themselves.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
