http://www.christianpost.com/news/why-a-believer-shouldnt-marry-an-unbeliever-100030/

If you are a believer and you are already married to someone who is an unbeliever, God's Word tells you to stay married to your spouse (see 1 Cor. 7:12,13). If on the other hand, you are a single Christian who is considering getting married to an unbeliever, don't do it. God's Word says, "Do not be unequally yoked." (2 Cor. 6:14)

The most important relationship to a Christian of course is my relationship with Jesus Christ. Every other relationship is secondary. If a believer marries an unbeliever, he or she is choosing to ignore what God says about being unequally yoked. It is never smart to ignore God's Word, and that is certainly the case in a matter as foundational as marriage.

There is no spiritual unity between a believer and an unbeliever. Not an ounce of it. Why? Because a Christian has the Holy Spirit dwelling within him or her, whereas an unbeliever doesn't have the Spirit's indwelling presence. The new birth results in a new life and a new spirituality. There is no unity on that level unless both people are converted through faith in Christ.

The Word gives two clear prohibitions to a believer and non-beliver marrying.  The preceding post brings up not being unequally yoked.  The second is in 2 Jn, "

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

considering today 50% of Christian marriages fail, I would only say that you could almost garantee that an unequaled yoke of marriage would fail very soon.

personally I don't think a person is really a Christian if they would marry an unbeliever, Its just such a huge part of a believers life, not having the same faith would be such a turn off to me, I couldn't care less how beautiful they were

I would say it would be the strangest thing for a Christian to marry an unchristian person as it goes against so many biblical principles, and huge amounts of biblical teaching against such a thing, most undoubtedly who ever would do such a thing either has not read the bible, or they actually don't care what it says and are in rebellion against what it teaches, and are not submitting to God at all

Many times people marry an unsaved person thinking they're in love and  that in time, the saved person will get the other one saved.  Or both are unsaved at the time of marriage and one spouse will get saved afterwards.    Unfortunately, what usually happens is that the saved person ends up falling away or the marriage is in constant conflict.  It's a really bad situation and only brings strife into the relationship and marriage, and often times the marriage ends up in the divorce court.

I agree with OP, it's just the finding the born again wife that's tough.

Any believer who marries an unbeliever is rebellious and disobedient...and as such steps out of The Lord's blessing...He will not bless disobedience. Getting married is a huge step to take and there is no excuse for the believer to go ahead and marry an unbeliever totally disregarding what God's word instructs us.

Blessings Everyone..

I don't know ,I find this topic rather interesting....I don't see how I could pass judgement on the believer that marries an unbeliever, since our flesh is always at war with the spirit there are times many a believer is lead into temptation...does that mean that they are not a believer?Oh,I know there will be post after post of what Gods Word says we shouldn't do but haven't we all done something  we clearly should not have done and then when we couldn't stand the conviction we dropped to our knees & thanked Jesus that He still loves us and we repent?

I personally don't see what the attraction to unbeliever would be but I don't walk in another brothers(or sisters  shoes)...could it be possible God has predestined one to be saved & has a believer all picked out for them? After all,His Word does say that the marriage can be sanctified and the unbeliever is under the believers umbrella of grace(so to speak)?

I am just pondering different scenarios is all....any thoughts?I just try not to pass judgement because I cannot know anyones heart....that is between them & God......we would do well to always walk in spirit  & in truth ,to never sin & to always be as Christ is in heaven but for now,we can only strive for perfection....praise & glory to God!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
