Does anyone like Star Trek?

I personally really like Star Trek. My favorite is the Voyager series. Really like the Borg. Then probably the Next Generation or Original series.

I learned an interesting factoid. Leonard Nemoy borrowed his classic Vulcan sign from the way Rabbis would hold up their hands when they blessed the people with "The Lord bless you and keep you...'" at the end of the Sabbath service.

I liked Voyager as well.  I thought the Series fanale was awesome.

 

I have to admit when the first spin off, "Deep Space Nine" first started, I was skeptical and didn't really warm up to it until a few seasons down the road.   I could not conceive of Star Trek without the Enterprise.

I am given to understand that most fans of Star Trek prefer to pretend that the "Enterprise" series with Scott Bakula simply never happened.

Mediocre, but a prequel was an interesting thought.

Except they changed the timeline, and then employed their over-used time-travelling changing history plot to account for everything being different.

Absolutely love it.  Remember the first episode debut in 1966.  Spock was my favorite.  I even joyed the fan club in 1966 and received autograph pictures of Kirk, Spock and Dr. McCoy.  Loved all the original movies that were even-numbered.  Did not like the odd-numbered movies.  Six in all.  Liked the orignal series, Next Generation and Voyager.  Did not like Deep Space Nine or Enterprise.  Love the Borg the most as an enemy.

The early Star Trek episodes were generally better than the Next Generation and what followed because they had to rely on well-written scripts and seasoned acting instead of computer generated special effects.

I think some of the drama was in the interplay between Kirk, Spock and McCoy -- three characters based on a similar command triad in Forbidden Planet that was frankly Freudian: McCoy was the symbolic id -- he was called a sensualist by Spock in one episode -- the superego was the all-too logical Spock and Kirk -- aptly the ego -- often had to decide on a plan of action between their conflicting advice, like the angel and devil on one's shoulder in cartoons.

You know that Star Wars is for children when you attend a public showing and all the adults in the audience are reading the opening lines to their kids.
