This subject has been coming up with Great Frequency and IMHO has "Muddied the Waters" on several threads.  I think there is confusion of who "Penned" the Scriptures and the TRUE AUTHOR.

 

In NO WAY, SHAPE, or FORM am I Implying or Overtly attempting to cast a Disparaging Light on the Men That "Penned" GOD'S WORD, HE chose them for a reason..... and that's good enough for me 

 

I say GOD is the TRUE AUTHOR.....and this is my case:

 

 

 

First of ALL....

 

(2 Timothy 3:16) "All scripture is given by inspiration of God...."

 

GOD-BREATHED!!  Whats that tell you?

 

This tells me that everyone on board here believes Scripture is inspired. It tells me that YOU have given a definition to what it means to be "God-breathed" that you did not derive from Scripture. For instance, when I was a boy I learned that Jesus was perfect; but then as a boy my concept of perfect was rather juvenile: I concluded that Jesus was the best basketball player among his peers. Does that constitute perfection in GOD'S eyes? You are searching Scripture for things that prove it inspired to YOUR SATISFACTION. I prefer finding out what inspired means from God himself.

 

 

But I understand some need a little more meat.  As you know, both the Hebrew and Greek Alphabet have Numerical Values assigned to the letters; well................

Nah, any meat would do.

 

 

Here's a couple GEMS:

 

If you take Genesis 1:1..... (In the beginning GOD created Heaven and the Earth.)  Then take the (number of the Letters and multiply that times the product of the Letters) then Divide that by the (number of the Words times the product of the Words) you get........ 3.1416 (Pi)

Show me in the Bible where this mathematical formula is a legitimate form of exegesis. For instance, when if I take the number of the letters and multiply them by 7 (a biblical number) and then subtract 3 (a theological number) and then divide this by 12 (a biblical number) then add 40 (biblical) to the 77th (biblical) power......what will I get?

Pi is important to moderns; show me where it is EXPLICITLY (i.e. God's clear WORD) important to God?

I'm sorry friend, but stick to science. This is, in Shiloh's words, a hermeneutical trainwreck.

 

Strange but ok, could be just randomness or nothing.

But lets take a look @ the 2nd Major Creation Verse in the Bible which happens to be in the New Testament and in Greek.......Greek Letters also have numerical values.  John 1:1: ( In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with GOD, and the Word was GOD).  Do the same thing.....(number of the Letters and multiply that times the product of the Letters) then Divide that by the (number of the Words times the product of the Words).  Guess what you get:.......... 2.7182 ("e")!!

 

"e"......Napierian Logarithm or LOG to the base "e".  This limiting value is 2.7182818285.

This number shows up everywhere in mathematics:  Wave Mechanics, Electrical Theory, Advanced Math, Distribution of Prime Numbers, Theory of Probability., Pure Theory of Numbers..etc.)  Oh...and "e" wasn't discovered until the 17th CENTURY!!d

 

Coincidence huh? ....The 2 Main Creation Verses in the BIBLE = The Basic Constants in the Entire UNIVERSE!!!

 

 

The GENEALOGY IN GENESIS 5:  Unlike "American" names, Hebrew Names mean something .   Did Moses Contrive this? ............

Got another "Jaw Dropper" from Numbers 2:

GOD gave Moses specific instructions on how to set up their camp around the Tabernacle while wondering in the wilderness.  By taking the numbers within each tribe (there were three tribes in each of the 4 camps) and placing per GOD'S INSTRUCTIONS.....if you could fly over the camp, this is what you would see.....

All this numerology stuff and other contrived cosmic connections are in my opinion a bunch of smoke and mirrors, and that is what I am trying to show.  I actually find them dangerous and that they take away from the true message of the Bible.   Numerology can lead people to mystical extremes, it will cause them to believe numbers can reveal the future, or uncover hidden "truths".  E2021 even implied that the dates of his namesakes birth and death can point to the 2nd coming.  This is very dangerous stuff

I actually do agree with this.

It's fascinating, but we do need to be careful not to add to the Bible what isn't intended.

 

Yeah like adding 4.5 billion years to the age of the earth and callling it "biblical."   Claims that there was a pre-adamite earth that existed before our earth was created,  Claims that sin and death exisited before Adam and claiming that to be "biblical.

 

All we have seen is people adding stuff to the Bible things that it doesn't say and was never intended.   The entire OEC model is rooted in adding to the Bible.  "Hi kettle, my name is pot and you're black."

So you are admitting that the kettle is black? i.e. that, in you're own thinking, you have done just as bad exegesis?

The Bible was written, inspired by God, to REVEAL, not conceal.  The idea that God set up Scripture so that we would have to hunt and peck and figure out mysterious codes is ludicrous.  And the familiar cycle continues; some can't take it when others don't buy their ideas or theories.  We should be able to get beyond that.  Don't we all serve the same God?

Well, I can take it.  And it wasn't a flippant "theory," I supported it.  If you'd like, you can refute any number of items that I posted...that's why I posted them.  If you do it systematically and respectfully with sound reasoning.....I have no problem, Whatsoever. If you refute it....GOOD!  We all learned something.....one less thing   If you confirm it and it Blesses You....Great!  You learned something.  It's a Win Win situation

Well that's a Strawman.  I never said it was written to "conceal".  I only wanted to point out that there apparently are some things concealed.

Love, I presented the case and supported it.  If you think it's hogwash....I don't have an issue with it.  I found it compelling and very interesting.  Notwithstanding, there are some that probably do take it too far....so there is an inherent danger and I recognized that.

See you're summarily dismissing the concept based on "an idea".   Then not only dismissing it but then adding your own color commentary that sounds emotional to me.  Do you have any "support" for your conclusion based on anything other than "an idea"??

It is a very bad idea to create a doctrine around a single verse.  It is a very bad idea to take a single verse to support anything.  Doing so is how we get some very bad things being done in the name of the Bible..

 

Pro 25:

² It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

³ The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.

 

Even looking at the very next verse dismisses the notion verse 2 is about God's written word.  The next verse speak of heaven and earth, in other words creation.  You ask where else would God conceal a thing, the answer is obvious, in his creation.  Think on the wonders that have been searched out in His creation and the honor they have brought to the one who finds them.

Hey Brothers and Sisters....appreciate the feedback. a Couple Points

 

 

1.  It appears my MAIN POINT point has gotten Lost in the Background Noise:  GOD Is THE AUTHOR not Man.  For me Personally, the Numbers 2 (Camp) is absolutely Breath Taking.  And it has nothing to do with any Codes.

 

 

2.  When I first heard about the Codes, I had a similar reaction to the "Poo Poo'ers" on the board...probably more so.  Let me ask you.....

 

A. Would it be a Fair Statement to say that GOD is a Mathematical Genius ^{100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 ---->} ??

 

B.  Has GOD created any other Code in any other Books?
