Does God punish his people when they did wrong ?

You need to know the difference in punishment and discipline.For believers in Jesus all our sin-past,present and future-has already been punished on the Cross.As Christians,we will never be punished for sin.The sin that remains in our lives,however,does sometimes require discipline.If we continue to sin and we do not repent and turn from that sin,God brings His divine discipline upon us.

According to the Bible and the Holy Spirit, I believe Christians are punished worse sometimes. I've witnessed to many Christians die horrific deaths because of their stance on sin. They suffered tremendously. They called themselves Christians, maybe they had blasphemed the Holy Spirit. But if that wasn't punishment, I don't know what u would call it.

Hebrews 10:26-31 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Acts 5:1-6, 10-11 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”

Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things. And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him.

YES GOD CHASTENS AND SOMETIMES IT IS EMOTIONAL SCOURGING.

Heb. 12:7-8 NKJV If you endure chastening God deals with you as with sons,, for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons..

During the early 70s I fell into gross sin of spiritual pride and self righteousness. God scourged me. No longer was I privileged to fellowship with Him. It was as though I were not saved and God humbled me. While I was not aware of any specific sin and searched my heart and scriptures for the answer, it was a couple of months before I understood my problem. Meanwhile I felt like Job. The only word that God had given me was that I had been a vessel of dishonor and that He was changing me.

So I understand the words of Hebrews that say we should strengthen hands that hang down and the feeble knees, and that chastening yields the peacable fruit of righteousness..Hebrews 12:11-12 And I know but I know that in me there is no good thing but for the life of Jesus Himself. I also know that I am a genuine child of God.

Since then God only has to gently correct me and guide me. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. Psm 111:10
