I know it's a respect thing, but the first time someone younger than me called me ma'am, it kinda depressed me!  :(

I know what you mean....   Mister this and Mister that and yes sir and no sir.....     I must say though that it grows on you.

Whether Christian or not the expression.. You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar is a good way to look at this. The better you treat others the better you will be treated. If you respond in surliness it will gain you nothing but equal contempt. Remember that though you are young now as once the elderly were, so you will be. the way you treat others is the way you will be treated. Another expression..with what measure you measure ..will be returned to you. God made you in love, love others especially your elders.. What you enjoy whether freedom or wealth is their gift to you...at their expense.

I know it's a respect thing, but the first time someone younger than me called me ma'am, it kinda depressed me!  :(

I know that millitary brats and people in the south always say yes sir and yes ma'am, but the first time a waiter said that to me in a restraunt I felt insulted. I am definitely insulted if they call me a Ms. Mrs is OK but very stilted to me. If people have a repectful attitude toward me they can call me by my first name. Honey and sweetie are definitely not respectful when coming from a young person or a waiter.

I have an aunt who insisted I address her as auntie even after I was in my sixties. So I guess we each have our own limits of decorum. But much of this is regional. In our area I never hear people being replied to as yes ma'am or yes sir in school, homes or church, and I worked for the school district and also taught Sunday School. But if that is expected in your home or school or region, It would be helpful to yourself to do so and make your life easier..

We are told in the Bible that that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. Pride is at the root of rebellion, and both were the sins of satan. He rebelled in heaven and took 1/3 of the angels with him. So you need to acknowledge this as real wickedness. I frequently pray and ask God to create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.

I agree that godly love does create respect and regard for those in authority over me, but I still struggle with this at times when their actions are ungodly. I somehow need to seperate those actions from them and remember that they are people for whom Christ died, whom He loves. Even when they are far from perfect, I need to respect them as human beings whom God loves, and because He loves them I can be concerned for them and respectful toward them as human beings as well. I am told to bless those who persecute me and pray for those who spitefully used me, so I will ask God to bless them with godly wisdom. I will hope that they are doing the best they know how to do, and what they believe to be right.

You will note how often I am saying "I will". I am determining in my heart to do these things, even though I don't feel like it and I don't always want to. I am determining to do God's will and not my own. This is called self discipline or self control. It will come up again, and each time I will calm down and repent, determining in my heart to do God's will till His love for them superceeds my outrage over injustices. In God I have no rights. I lay them at the feet of Jesus. We are to have the same mind in us as Christ when He gave up His rights and powerful name to take on a human form of a baby, and become a bondslave to the Father, doing only His will. That is what I also choose to do--God's will.

Blessings,

Willa

You are off to a good start by asking us for advice here.  I am in the military and people have been addressing me as Yes Sir, No Sir, ever since I joined up, so when someone says yes sir, or no sir to me, I don't take it as an insult because of my age.  There's a rank structure and hierarchy and junior military members learn very quickly how valuable respect is to their seniors.  They get disciplined for a lack of respect and learn that they will not advance as quickly as their peers if they are disrespectful to their leadership.

My advice, be polite and respectful to grown-ups.  Even the biggest loser of an adult has something valuable to teach you, even if it is to not repeat their mistakes.  You will be an adult much longer in your life than you will be a child/teenager, learning early on how to treat other adults will be beneficial to your personal and professional relationships.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
