So...who rules the earth, Satan or God?

 

Who rules the earth, Satan or God?

 

I say God. Here's why:

 

Rev 20:1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations any more until the thousand years were ended

 

Matthew 12:25 And knowing their thoughts Jesus said to them, “Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself will not stand. “If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then will his kingdom stand? “If I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? For this reason they will be your judges. “But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. “Or how can anyone enter the strong man’s house and carry off his property, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.

 

Hebrews 2:14 Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil.

 

John 12:31 “Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.”

 

1 John 3:8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose,to destroy the works of the devil.

Jesus rules the earth.  Begin to see in the pages of scripture that God is sovereign over all.  The devil is God's devil.

quite obviously, men rule the earth; either yielded to God's leading, or the devil's leading.

 

Gen 1:26 KJV

(26)  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

 

God gave people in flesh bodies unrestricted dominion over all the earth; people in flesh bodies can use that dominion for good or for evil.

 

in the US, the federal government is sovereign - this simply means that no other government rules over the federal government.  but the federal government has, by it's own laws, delegated some areas to the exclusive authority of the states; and in these areas, the federal government is bound by it's own laws ('word') to not interfere - even though the federal government could easily force the states to conform to federal leading.

(16)  In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

Joh 3:16-21 KJV

so, 'every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved' are those whose deeds are not wrought in God.

So...who rules the earth, Satan or God?

That would depend on what you mean by that question.     When Jesus had finished his 40 day fast and was tempted by Satan, Satan offered him all the kingdoms of the earth just to worship him.....    so while the earth did not belong to Satan, the political systems did.   I see nowhere that they have been taken from him and won't be until Jesus returns and does so violently upon his return.

 

The question I have is why God allows Satan to do the things he allows him to do here until Jesus gets back.   Paul tell us that there is a restrainer here limiting what Satan can do, but just before the end that restrainer will be removed and will let evil run amuck for a short time.

 

So I personally would say that God is in control of planet earth but for some reason is letting Satan control things here  for a time.  I guess some would use the short sighted view that Satan is ruling here for the time being, but that would/could only be because the Father lets him.....   but still he is being restrained.

 

I think God is creating a new kind of being in us and this is to see who he can and can not trust with whatever he has in store for us......   that and to judge the angels.

Satan was given dominion of the earth for a time...but God never relinquished His supreme control.

The Earth and everything on it belongs to the Lord. Satan has control over kingdoms and establishments created by man. When he tempted the Lord, he offered kingdoms of men.
