Ah, the question of identity..

Just let God tell you who you are. We are made in His image and are much more complex than any test is ever going to be able to figure out, and as such, we will only find satisfaction in what He says about us.

Also, if you are on the path of being made into the image of Christ, then what does this stuff mean anyways? You tell me! What myers-briggs type is Jesus? Find that out so I can be just like Him :D

Generally speaking, personality tests such as Briggs Myers, were originally designed to reveal any mental disorders. Some psychiatrists and psychologists still use them for that purpose.

Many employers use these tests to find a person's personality type. A type that would be suited for a particular job vacancy.

Many believe a person cannot change their personality, like a leopard can't change their spots. But I disagree to a point.

My belief is that a personality is based on a person's belief system. If that belief system becomes drastically changed, so too is the personality.

Some new born Christians, or recovered alcoholics, are good examples of a drastic change in personality.

However, everybody has a memory system too, and though a person may have changed, they can always revert back to their former self. A relapse of sorts.

So, the spots may not have changed, but they can shrink it an insignificant size, but can flare up again on a relapse.

It is very important in placing people in some jobs.     as an example, what I did with Xerox can't be done by just everyone.    I had to go into peoples offices and work on equipment that they used to get their jobs done and when that equipment doesn't work it is a very tense situation in most cases.   I had to deal with very angry people most of my 38 year career.   One has to stand face to face with people and have them call you a worthless SOB and smile and not disagree with them.   Not very many people can do that for half a lifetime without loosing it.....   and if we stayed in business one could never loose it.

So we use the tests to make sure that the person has the type of personality to deal with it.....       One has to absorb the flack so they can end up the white knight saving the day.          but I can tell you that it is not easy to do.     We did have a few that slipped by the tests and they were miserable for as long as they lasted and did damage to our customer base while they were there.

Another situation was when I asked about going into management.....   I was told that I was not enough of a (expletive delete concerning backsides) to be a good manager.

I do not believe in doing personality testing. It is too worldly for me.

I agree bopeep,

I believe it to be the enemy's way of making us negative and getting us to believe lies. We are created in God's image.  Taking a test that the world puts out there is just another ply from  him.  Leave it alone.

It is absolutely correct that we are created in God's image. I don't think any personality test can do that justice or completely encompass our character and personality as God has made us all entirely unique. However, such personality tests can be useful. As mentioned previously, employers often use them to determine what kinds of jobs certain people are mentally equipped to handle. Personally these tests have been helpful for me understanding myself better. While naturally they will be incomplete and can't completely define who I am as a person, it can help me determine where some of my strengths and weaknesses lie. For example, I'm fairly introverted and enjoy the company of friends and getting to know new people, but because I understand that I'm more introverted, I know my boundaries and when I need time alone. It also helps me understand others around me, and how they perceive situations and react to them, extending grace when they don't react as I expect. Of course, idols can be made of anything, and I wouldn't want to put personality tests on a pedestal and rely on them for insight to every situation. It's easy to feel as though such things are the missing puzzle piece that will make you see your life in a new light and make everything click into place. Personality assessments, while fascinating, can't do this, but they are useful when used in the correct context.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
