Apostles...

Hey people,

I was reading my bible a bit and I came across one apostle who I enjoyed reading:Peter.

"All men are like grass,

and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;

the grass withers and the flowers fall,

but the word of the Lord stands forever."

I read that and thought that was a beautiful saying. I had to ask who the apostles were and know I know and I would like to know who your favorites are or who you like to read. Feel free to qouat verses and such!

I agree that Peter was his most zealous apostle. I do wish that I could be more like him if not like Jesus. Since the apostles walked with and during the time of Christ, if I were to have stumbled upon the group of them I know that I would follow Jesus.

I too like Peter, but another favorite is Thomas. Both so human and yet both so loved by Jesus.

It took me a long time to get over my dislike of Paul. I don't feel that way anymore, but I can't say he's my favorite.

Unfortunately, me and "impetuous Peter" have a lot in common, so I would have to say he's my guy. I can relate to him.

Not much for the thought of being zealous, but desire to have the faith of which many of the apostles carried within their hearts for Christ as well as the heavenly Father.

Though there is no denying that much admiration is given to Peter, a favorite scripture of my own is that of Peter coming to out to walk upon the water to meet Jesus. That is a truly powerful example of faith, had it not waivered for that brief moment to think he might have walked with Jesus! Awesome huh?

He took that step, of having Faith in GOD and walked on water.

I have alot of Faith in GOD. For nothing is impossible with GOD.

One of my favorites is the man that wrote this:

1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not *comprehend it.

Peter was paraphrasing Isaiah 40

7 The grass withers, the flower fades, because the Spirit of the LORD blows on it; surely the people is grass.

8 The grass withers, the flower fades; but the Word of our God shall stand forever.

I dont really know that I have a favorite apostle. If I had to choose, it would probably be Paul. I "fought" him early in my walk, but have since had to defend him many times. In doing so, Ive learned to appreciate his contributions in the kingdom of God.

Ask me about my favorite martyr, hands down, Stephen. I can only pray that I could meet a martyrs death with his faith, should such a fate await me.

My favorite is "John" whom Jesus loved.

I think Peter is the one we can most identify with. When we mess up it is kind of comforting to see that one such as Peter messed up too, and yet the Lord was always ready to reach out and bless Peter in spite of himself.

Paul, too, is one that the sinner who has sinned against the Lord greatly, can look at and realize that the Lord is no respecter of persons. He is a God who sees our faults and still loves us and is willing to extend His grace. Paul, a man who killed Christians thinking he was doing the Lord a favor, was chosen of the Lord to suffer greatly and write much of the New Testiment. Paul, a man fogiven much, who loved much. I cannot fathom how many people have come to know the Lord Jesus because of Paul's life of surrender. He certainly set his light high on a hill didn't he.

Both these disciples are shining examples for me to follow as they model the Lord in their life.
