Matthew 24:24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Mark 13:22 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Is the "elect" christians, and is this speaking of losing salvation?

What if a person feels God has abandoned them, that they know they are not part of "the elect", but still are deeply troubled, even desire to know if Jesus is real, but feel they are unlovable by God, or God does not love? I don't have the answers, and when I read scripture to this person it causes more and more questions of doubt, and i'm feeling overwhelmed.

Jesus again gives a warning of false prophets in the last days (Matthew 24:23-28). At the end of the tribulation, there will be astronomical upheaval (verse 29), and the nations of the world will see the Christ “coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory” (verses 29-30). Those who were saved during the tribulation will be gathered out of the world by the angels (verse 31).

I think Mark 13:22 has to do with counterfeit miracles in the tribulation and a warning that even Satan is capable of those.

I believe the passage of scripture in question is dealing and speaking concerning the 144,000 Jews who will turn to the Messiah during the seven year tribulation period spoken of in the book of Revelation. As these Jews will set themselves apart unto God and keep themselves and remain pure during those seven years of tribulation. During those seven years there will be supernatural things occuring in the earth as prophecy foretells us about. These 144,000 Jews are the "Elect" the scripture passage is referring to. Satan will use many devices and powers to decieve all the people of the earth to worship and take the mark of the beast during that time period we read about in prophecy. And Satan will try his best to decieve these 144,000 Jews (the elect) who see that Jesus Christ was indeed the true Messiah and will not be decieved by the Antichrist as they will be kept by God and endure all the way to the end of the tribulation period remaining faithful to the only one and true living God Jesus Christ.

The scripture has nothing to do with believers in this time period as being the elect which is being spoken of.

Matthew 24:24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

While the context of this passage is the Jews, Jerusalem, and Judah and these would be the elect out of Israel, the warning is of general application during the Church age, and both Peter and Paul speak of false teachers, false prophets, and false messiahs during the Church Age.

There are many born-again Christians, for example, who have been deceived by Benny Hinn.  He does great "signs and wonders", but is he a true preacher or is he is false teacher and false prophet?  All Christians are advised to investigate this man.

These fears have been generated because of the false teaching that some are elected for salvation while others are elected for damnation.

There is no foundation for this in Scripture.  Since "whosoever" is invited to be saved, all are loved by God, and God will have all men to be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth (1 Tim 2:3,4): For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

No. The “elect” refers to the “chosen people,” the children of Israel. While that may INCLUDE the Gentile believers because they also have been grafted into the Olive Tree of David’s Kingdom, they are NOT the primary beneficiaries.

Also, this does NOT refer to one “losing his or her salvation.” This is talking about those who are the subjects for Yeshua`s future Kingdom being misled into thinking that the Messiah has already arrived. The false “Messiahs” are deceivers who set themselves up as those who would be king, and the false “prophets” are those who claim to speak for YHWH announcing these false “Messiahs” as though they were the real Messiah.

Also, regarding “salvation,” again, THAT’S THE WRONG WORD for what you are talking about! The correct terminology is “justification by God.” When God has justified an individual, what can any man or woman, including the justified himself or herself, do to annul that justification? It’s IMPOSSIBLE! It is GOD who justifies! Can a newborn baby (or ANY child, even a fully mature person) change his or her DNA? NO! The DNA shows clearly that they are the product of his or her father and mother! In the same way, there is NOTHING that will change the fact that you have become a child of God, because you are a product of GOD your FATHER! You did nothing to become a justified person, and you can do nothing to undo being a justified person!

Romans 8:31-39
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
KJV

“Salvation” is a word that is talking about “deliverance” or “rescue,” and that “deliverance,” ESPECIALLY in the prophecies, is talking about God delivering His people, Israel, from their enemies, including the sins in themselves.

This warning against being deceived was answered in the context of events which foretold the end of the world.

Jesus knowing the future, gave a short discourse which would have information for those living in His time on earth, as well as the early church and every believer until the end of the world.

But these warnings were especially for those who would have to live in the end times, as they face the clear demarcation between the wicked and the godly by the mark of the beast. Here the faithful are referred to as the elect, who have to be on guard around this time that the mark is gaining the approval of the masses.

The false Christs are prevalent in order to impress the world to honor the mark, and to confirm the belief in contact with the supposed spirits of the dead, as well as convincing them that a new spiritual and miraculous world has dawned, the thousand years of peace have begun. But while they say peace and safety, then sudden destruction.

Believers and Followers of Jesus Christ cannot lose their Salvation as it is guaranteed by GOD by the sealing of the Holy Spirit within our hearts. Plus, the caveat "if possible" means that if it were possible (which it is not for the stated reason), the elect would be deceived. Lastly, Matthew 24 - known as the Olivet Discourse - is for Israel and not the Church as we will already have been Raptured.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
