I believe number 8 (eye contact) might be the most important. Number 1 (the handshake) I heard many times is important but I'm afraid of breaking someones hand (specially elderly people), I mean do we squeeze their hand until they say uncle? The next time I drink out of a cup I must pay attention to where I look (that's a new one), I guess I look at the cup because I don't want to miss my mouth.

The handshake thing is important but I've had my hand squeezed very hard by men (I think they just don't realize their own strength) so it's a good idea to think about that when meeting a woman or ANY elderly person.  Breaking bones won't make anyone like you!  :happyhappy:

Well,it takes some common sense. Some may have arthritis and it would be painful to grip their hand very hard.

I had a boss once who was a BIG guy and, when he would shake hands, I saw more than one person wince.  I know it wasn't intentional but goodness, a little lady in her 70s shouldn't have her hand fractured by an overzealous young man.  And arthritis is a factor; my exhusband has scoriatic arthritis and at times any pressure hurts him.  On the flip side, I met one of DIL's friends the other day, she's in her twenties, and when she shook my hand she grasped just my fingers and barely shook my hand.  Not sure what that was about, I am way bigger than her so I know she wasn't worried about hurting my hand.  Another one for the weird list?  I won't dislike someone for such odd things though.  Every person is different, we're unique, it's how God made us..

If God made us all the same, what a boring life we would have. God needs us to be different in order that his will would be done.

SO agree, O.Z.  If God wanted us all to be the same, He would have made us that way.  Think how awesome He is; every single person is unique, one of a kind.

We are like different parts to a machine, take one part away and the machine quits running.

a thought provoking article. However I don't think any guy out there is paying attention to where someone is looking when they take a sip of a beverage.

The yahoo article made me think of what our God,Jesus, said in John 7:24 : "Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment."

(The Gospel of John is my favorite book that has ever been written and ever will be written. I am always saying "wow" when I read it. Thank you so much for guaranteeing me eternal life in heaven, my dearest God Jesus of Nazareth..)

Before I judge, I also, along with  try to remember the saying : " There are two types of people: those who are humble and those who will be humbled."

As a genius of geniuses(but nothing compared to Jesus Christ), physicist and true Christian, James Clerk Maxwell said read (the New Testament's) Ephesians and Colossians to really understand the order and unity of the Universe![ian Hutchinson,2006;"James Maxwell and the Christian Proposition";MIT IAP Seminar]

Einstein kept a photograph of Maxwell in his home and said a new era of physics began with  James Maxwell.

Just to keep it real, rontiger, very few WOMEN watch where others look when they drink either.  That one surprised me.

About the handshake heart heartache, just give in your third finger (bring it inwards from the rest of your fingers)

and you will feel no more pain when someone tries to squeeze the life out of you!!:t2:

@MorningGlory   I guess I'll be wearing my shades next time I have a sip of Coke;  because  you said it , "Very few women watch where others look while drinking". That still means  there actually are some women who watch!

Where as zero guys do that.

@1to3       Talking about strong handshakes, recently I was speaking to a fellow in the States who said his great uncle was Louis Cyr, who was from Quebec like you are.

He told me Cyr was famous for being the world's strongest man in the 20th century. Have you ever heard of this guy Louis Cyr?

Thank you so much Jesus of Nazareth!!

The only thing from this list I even have a firm opinion about is how someone treats wait staff...or any other kind of customer service worker. I CANNOT stand rude patrons. They seem to think they are somehow "above" the employees who are serving them. Sometimes I intervene on employee's behalf if it's really bad. Other times I just whisper to them, "I'm sorry were got treated that way" when it's my turn to be served.

I've never been a waitress but both my sister and sister-in-law were at different times.  They both were called names, yelled at, and propositioned by men.  And told to clean up vomit, dispose of dirty diapers, clean up broken glass etc. by their employers. Good grief!  I try to treat everyone the same from the janitor to the company President.  I don't understand people like that.  They have ZERO class.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
