The issue is irrelevant to some, but it actually influences Biblical hermeneutics in ways in ways you might never imagine. If you are interested in exploring the issue, check out this web site defending Eden

Where the fourth river is, we aren't quite sure, but it may have dried up, or been greatly altered in the flood, or it could be one of the tributaries of the Tigris or Euphrates. This is probably why God promised to give this land to Abraham and his decendants, who would presumably serve God. And its why it will be instead given to all people who were actually saved through grace. It is the original parcel of land God gave to Adam and Eve!!!!

Well stated, and an interesting association with the New Jerusalem! However, we do now know where the fourth river in the Genesis 2 account was

Affirming the Biblical reference of Arabia of Pishon, there was a recent discovery of an enormous ancient river bed in Arabia through the use of Shuttle Imaging Radar photos, This 3 to 6 Km wide river had started in the Hijaz Mountains near Medina and flowed 530 miles northeast into the Persian Gulf, just off the coast of present-day Kuwait. This matches our Biblical and historical information perfectly, so we can assume this first river mentioned in this Genesis 2 was obviously in Arabia, and the headwaters for this river would have been all around the Medina area.

Where's the beef? For such a claim, I was hoping to see a picture.

Burger is Up! You just need to click on the word Pishon in this article, but for simplicity sake, you can go to this link for a few pictures of Pishon:

whether it is in Iraq, turkey, Israel or Arabia is an interesting conversation. I am more interested in this last question:

The question is, "If Eden was in Israel, how does this effect the way we understand the rest of scripture?"

Can you all expound on this a bit and the significance of where Eden was....

I think it's fun to investigate the possibilities of where Eden may have been.

However, I do feel leary of the "We have proof that it's here" claims.

For one, that's bad science - you have what you consider to be evidence, but that is a far cry from "proof." Likewise, these findings can be open to interpretation. Therefore, stay clear of the "proof" business!

For another, I am not convinced that the location of the Garden of Eden is important to God's plan of redemption. Jesus is the Tree of Life - and that's where we need to go for our salvation, not some place on Earth.

The Temple of Solomon and the temple in Jesus day both had Cherubims on the veil, which faced eastward. This was a symbol of the spiritual banishment of man from God's presence.

That's an interesting way of looking at things.

Unfortunately, I am not convinced this means the Temple would have been located over where the Garden was.

This is probably why God promised to give this land to Abraham and his decendants, who would presumably serve God. And its why it will be instead given to all people who were actually saved through grace. It is the original parcel of land God gave to Adam and Eve!!!!

Now that's an interesting argument!

Why did God chose that this particular parcel of land to give to His people?

Although not conclusive "proof," that is an interesting answer to the question.

The pros and cons of the southern Iraq location can be viewed here:

http://www.faith-friends.com/Eden/modules....aq=yes&id_cat=6

The main issue with this Iraq location is the best defined river of them all - the Gihon River, which is the Nile. If Eden was in Iraq, how do you feed the headwaters of the Nile without crossing oceanic plates

The question is really one for you to answer! I already hold my own convictions regarding this issue and they are defined on the web site posted here, but few people have actually worked through the elementary questions of this issue, so I will start to define some of the implications.

Soteriology - If Eden was in Israel, the very ground which saw the first sin & fall, would be the very place of redemption and restoration. Other questions that would be relevant include: what was the tree of life and where is it today? What was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
