In reading Revelation 6, when the 6th seal is opened, it is very apparent Christ has returned at the 6th seal at the end of the 7 year period.

Rev2015,

While Mt 24:29 places these events AFTER the "tribulation of those days" (probably not "the Great Tribulation"), Luke places these events BEFORE the Second Coming. But as you go through Revelation, everything is in numerical order and sequence, so I believe the events are chronological and sequential. And the use of the "woes" is in sequence ("One woe is past; and behold there come two woes more hereafter" Rev 9:12).

Revelation 6:12-14

And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;  And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

Matthew 24:29

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

Luke 21:25-27

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

Why is it then that Israel (Daniels people) and Jerusalem (Daniels holy city) have not completed any of the six tasks (Dan 9:24).

In Christ

Montana Marv

Au contraire mon frere, they were all fulfilled:

Dan. 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city…    [The prophecy is for the remnant of Judah (Daniel’s people) and for Jerusalem, none else.]

to finish the transgression/peshah…     [The word means and refers to the revolt/rebellion/apostasy of the priesthood, the one originally spoken of in Daniel 8:12, 13, 23. This took place when Antiochus Epiphanes, after being bribed, removed the pious Onias III from the high priesthood and installed his apostatizing brother Jason; latter 170s B.C. 1 Macc. 2:15 calls the subsequent debasement of the priesthood and Temple “the apostasy” [apostasian]. Similar corruptions of the priesthood, including bribes, took place during the time of Roman rule. Jesus condemned it, and prophesied the desolation of the religious establishment and destruction of Jerusalem and Temple because of it. Matt. 23, esp. vs. 35-39.]

and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness…    [All accomplished by the Crucifixion and Resurrection.]

and to close up vision and prophecy…    [Matt. 11:13: “For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.” Luke 16:16: “The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presses into it.”

OT prophecy – that of Daniel’s people – ended at John the Baptist. OT prophets had the Holy Spirit “come upon” them. Beginning at John, prophets were “filled with” it. The former phrase is never used by the NT, and the latter never by the OT.]

and to anoint the Most Holy.    [= Jesus, who became Melchizedek High Priest of the heavenly sanctuary.]

This Prophecy is not for Christ to fulfill.

Let's go over all six:  1.  to finish transgressions (Israel still transgresses, a lot of atheists among them, no change over the past 2000 years).  2.  to put an end to sin (Israel still sins, Zech 13:1 - On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity).  3. to atone for wickedness (again many of Israel are atheists). 4.  to bring in everlasting righteousness. (And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication.  They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child... Zech 12:10) 5.  to seal up vision and prophecy (on that day every prophet will be ashamed of his prophetic vision, Zech 13:4, again during the Mill) .  6.  to anoint the most holy. (this happens when Israel anoints Jesus the Messiah as their King - during the Mill)

None of these become fulfilled until the end of days Daniel 12:12 is finished and "On that Day" begins.  All in relation to the Second Coming and the Mill to follow.  When Israel sees the one who they have pierced, in one day their sins will be removed.

1. The word is pesha is singular, not plural, and refers to the same pesha of Daniel 8:11-12 --

8:11-12 He [Antiochus Epiphanes IV] even exalted himself as high as the Prince of the host; and by him the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of His sanctuary was cast down. Because of transgression [pesha], an army was given over to the horn to oppose the daily sacrifices; and he cast truth down to the ground. He did all this and prospered.

The transgressors (see Dan. 8:23) -- and the word can equally mean apostates/apostatizers -- were the corrupt Jewish priests, who promoted Hellenistic religious and secular customs in Judah. They were led by two High Priests in succession that bought their office by bribing Antiochus. The rightful and pious high priest Onias III was driven out and assassinated, and Antiochus later came and 'took away the daily sacrifices and cast down the place the sanctuary.' All explained in the Books of the Maccabees.

From this point on, the Jewish priesthood continued in a corrupt state, sometimes more, sometimes less. This transgression/apostasy is what is referred to, again, by the angel in Dan. 9:24:
Seventy weeks are determined
For your people and for your holy city,
To finish
the transgression/apostasy/pesha...
The corrupt Levitical priesthood was later condemned by Jesus in Matt. 23, and came to the end of its authority over the Israelites in 70 A.D.

2. "What can wash away our sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus." There will be sins committed even during the Millennium, so don't kid yourself that this passage won't be fulfilled before the End Times. Hasn't Jesus' shed blood put an end to your sins?

Likewise for numbers 3 and 4: Jesus' blood has atoned for sins, and he brought in everlasting righteousness, as only he could. Numbers 5 and 6 have likewise been explained.

I wrote in my original post, "There is no scripture about the End Times that prophesies the building of the Temple prior to the Second Coming of the Messiah. There is no scripture about the End Times that says Jerusalem will be destroyed in the End Times. Both of these things would have to occur in order for this passage in Daniel to be End Time: but they are nowhere mentioned in any End Time prophetic passage."

If you can provide any evidence to the contrary, apart from this one contested passage in Daniel 9, please show it to us. If you cannot, your whole argument lacks an independent witness: and God always provides two witnesses.

The 70 - sevens prophecy is for Daniels people and Daniels holy city to perform.  No one else.  Read the prophecy word for word Daniel 9:24.  And tell me who besides Israel and Jerusalem are to fulfill the six tasks.  If this prophecy cannot be fulfilled as written, you have a God problem.  Only two are mentioned to do the fulfilling.

Dan. 9:24 Seventy weeks have been determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city...

"have been determined": Hebrew root chathak; tense, Niphil Perfect (completed action): have been determined/ decreed/ settled/ marked out

You read the prophecy, Marv: there is nothing there that says "Israel and Jerusalem are to fulfill the six tasks." What it says is that the six tasks have been determined/decreed to come upon them.

You have an understanding problem, presumably because you are reading into the passage your predetermined conclusion, not what the passage literally says.

The thing is that these do not come upon them until after the 1,335th day in Daniel 12:11, 12.  And this is 1,335 days after the A/D will be set up.  Then Daniel will arise to receive his inheritance.  So did Daniel receive his inheritance just after 70 AD.  His inheritance is the Land.  Yet Rome uprooted Israel out of the Land.

Bible prophecy is not given so we can make a calendar — it's given to mold our character.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
