I am against genetic meddling myself although I DO see the value to mankind.  I just pray that the Lord will not let this  technology to be used for anything other than preventing genetic diseases.  He can do it; He's in control.

One of my concerns is what the military will do with it.

Just because some people WILL use any technological advance for evil does that mean we have to stop it all??  If that is the case we had best learn how to manage without oil, electricity, gas, machinery of all sorts ( the Luddite riots were to prevent the use of machines that would cause humans to lose work and money )  Do we ban all transplants ? Do we stop all medication?? I am allergic to so many antibiotics and anaesthetics as well as vaccines they have horrid side effects so should no one be allowed to use them ??  

Man is born of sin ... no matter what we do some will use helpful things for evil Does that give us a right to ban any " advances " in medicine or technology ???

How far back do you want to go to stop possible evil use of new knowledge ?? Perhaps we should stop cavemen using and controlling fire after all fire burns and has caused so much death and serious injury ..what about guns ? How many of you own those because naturally a gun is not going to be used for anything bad is it ??  It is NOT the gun that is evil it is the person who uses it in an evil way and the same is true of all technology

When does a person cease to be human?   How much can be changed before we are no longer human?   How much can be added from animal genes for instance, and the result is a hybrid -   what does that mean for salvation?

 Patience is good ,and treatments which are natural and not maniplulative bring some amelioration,  ,but pain, and some disability is part of life, and can bring us closer to God as we contemplate His  Being, and Learning  what we need to . Some people live long lives and then they die and go to the grave ,but if they have ignored God, then they' re not to be envied  . For example , a 'transplant ' means the death of another ,and to wish for that, is a 'sin', but if God wills it,  and not you ,

it is a Gift . We will continue with tecnological inventions ,as seeking answers is part of who we are as God's children ,and part of that too ,is to be responsible in deciding if what we have learned can be used in 'good conscience ',for example the splitting of  the atom brought the atomic bomb ,the hideous side ,and the useful side allows us to have energy to heat        our homes etc;  

I think this kind of thing is related to the 'tree of the knowledge of good and evil ' . When we have become God's children we are able to discern what is good and what is evil ,but only after we have eaten of the 'tree of life ', Jesus . If this bomb had been 'discovered ' earlier , we would probably all be dead . So there must have been a time ,and for me it was the 'sacrifice of those who died in WW2 60 million fighting 'fascism , which brought a new time on earth ,and allowed a beginning of a new world which is unfolding  around us ............

lol if being ill is what you need to learn to walk with God then I would be almost in heaven on earth as I was born with severe breathing difficulties and my whole body racked with crippling arthritis I have lived with disability and crippling pain all my life ( I actually do not know anything else so I am used to it ) 

Transplants can be done without the death of another person ( you can give a living transplant of a kidney for instance ) Your assumption that you have to be sick to seek God is just not valid and is indeed insulting to many healthy and honest Christians . As you have just stated the USE of the technology is what makes a thing good or harmful ... it is NOT the technology itself but the evil in mens hearts

Oh lady I too suffer from arthritis. Polar fleece has been soooo helpful in managing pain. Helps to keep the joints warm.

Love fleece jumpers and sleep with fleece blankets on the bed ..light enough not to hurt and warm enough to help xxxxx

My wife has MS..     it would be really nice if we could stop having to find ways to purchase $84,000 dollars worth of drugs each year.
