well we know there was no light. LIght is a component of the space time continum. So I think its safe to assume there was NOTHING before the first day

If the space time continuum is a part of creation then it does not make sense to speak of "before" since before is related to time, which didn't exist.

ok, thanks!
what you said earlier now makes good sense to me.

i take "space-time" to be the underlying substructure that the universe itself is stretched out upon. if the true nature of the universe is as cosmologists suspect, one in which space itself has been inflating, then what i refer to as space-time is that substructure that is expanding: i don't really have a ready word for whatever it is that 'space' is expanding 'in' -- but from this understanding, an element of what i would call 'space-time' may be anything from vacuum to neutron star or black-hole density mass, either containing 0 or negative energy, or any amount of energy that may or may not be in the form of "light."
to me it's just the 'field' that other things like waves and particles etc. exist in.

what you're talking about, i think i may just call, 'the cosmos' :)

thanks again. it's hard to talk of things like this if we aren't sure that we mean the same things when we use certain odd jargon.

I don't think spacetime is expanding. As a matter of fact, I thinks spacetime is an unchanging 4-dimensional block.

For starters, I could not possibly say at what rate it is expanding, since I need space and time to make sense of things like expansion.

Some interpret the angels being created before the universe from Job 38:

"Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:

“Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
Dress for action like a man;
I will question you, and you make it known to me.

“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
Tell me, if you have understanding.
Who determined its measurements—surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
On what were its bases sunk,
    or who laid its cornerstone,
when the morning stars sang together
and all the sons of God shouted for joy?"

How about a sphere? There an many who believe that just like the earth is a sphere, space-time is a sphere which is not expanding.

even a 4-dimensional or higher than that, sphere . . ?
((be assured, mathematically, the n-sphere exists, no problem))

the Greeks considered the sphere to be the geometrically 'perfect' form, and worked out their science on the basis of it, that the God who created the cosmos was perfect, so fundamentally this form was all over it, as though His fingerprint.

Water is not a luxury of Earth, in fact, it is the most abundant compound in the universe because it is composed of the first and third most abundant elements, hydrogen and oxygen, respectively. However, water in liquid form is a special feature of Earth. It is usually present as vapor or ice in the Solar System.  [Source: Header from a Google search]

Since God created all the elements and their constituent sub-particles from the beginning at the Big Bang when He spoke the universe into existence, that's how water first appeared.  God created everything include space-time through His words, and restored everything to its proper order after Lucifer's Flood with the words, "Let there be ..."
