This thread is simply bizarre. You want the world to believe that Pilate's wife wanted to see Jesus released. That is a purely fanciful scenario.

Shalom, @Ogner.

She didn't say that she wanted Yeeshuwa` ("Jesus") to be released; she simply told her husband not to have anything to do with Him! She SUFFERED many things in a dream because of Him!

Shalom  @Retrobyter

Your comment that Pilate’s wife didn’t ask for Yeeshuwa` (“Jesus”) to be released, but simply told her husband to “have nothing to do with Him” and mentioned suffering “many things in a dream because of Him,” is a great point. It fits perfectly into the second version I’ve talked about before, and I’m glad to see how well it aligns. Let me unpack that version to show how it all comes together.

The second version goes like this: when Pilate’s wife says, “Have nothing to do with that just man, for I’ve suffered much today in a dream because of him” (Matthew 27:19), she’s not defending Jesus or asking for his release, as some assume. Instead, it’s an ironic nudge to Pilate, telling him not to bother protecting Jesus. By then, Pilate had already publicly declared Jesus innocent three times (27:18, 23, 24) and offered the crowd a choice between Jesus and Barabbas (27:17), likely to shift the decision off himself. Her note arrives late, when he’s already reluctant to execute Jesus—so why plead for something he’s leaning toward anyway? It doesn’t add up if she’s his savior.

More likely, her “dream” is a fabrication, a clever ploy. By saying she “suffered because of Him” in a dream, she’s hinting to Pilate: “If you keep defending Jesus, I might suffer for real—because of a mob riot.” The crowd was already shouting for Barabbas (27:20-21), and tensions were high. Here’s a key detail: the Greek particle “γὰρ” (gar) before “I suffered much” should be translated as “and” or “plus this,” not “but.” It’s not a contrast to her request (“have nothing to do”), but an addition: “Don’t get involved, and on top of that—I suffered because of Him.” This ramps up the pressure: “Give the crowd what they want, hand Jesus over, or we could all pay the price.” Her suffering in the dream isn’t a motive to free Jesus—it’s a warning: she wants to avoid that in reality, not save Him. The idea that her suffering in a dream would make her want Jesus freed is a stretch, a leap that doesn’t hold up. How does suffering because of someone lead to wanting them spared? It’s more logical that she’s saying: “He’s already cost me in a dream—don’t let him cost us in life. Drop it.”

So her role isn’t a rescuer, but a voice of pressure, masked as concern. She uses the dream as leverage to push Pilate to step back, not to fight for Jesus. This ties right into your point that she didn’t want Him released—she wanted Pilate to wash his hands of it and let the crowd have their way.

So, this is how it should be translated

Matthew 27:19,20, "When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.
ALSO/AND the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus

I do agree with others that there is the forcing of Scripture by the opster, to say what it does not say or mean.  Isolating certain words from the verses, does not change the context of the surrounding verses.  There is nothing there in the passages that suggest Pilates wife even mentioned Barabbas.

Matthew 27:11-22 (NKJV)

11 Now Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?”

Jesus said to him, It is as you say.” 12 And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing.

13 Then Pilate said to Him, “Do You not hear how many things they testify against You?” 14 But He answered him not one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.

15 Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to releasing to the multitude one prisoner whom they wished. 16 And at that time they had a notorious prisoner called Barabbas. 17 Therefore, when they had gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?” 18 For he knew that they had handed Him over because of envy.

19 While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him.”

20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. 21 The governor answered and said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?”

They said, “Barabbas!”

22 Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?”

They all said to him, “Let Him be crucified!”

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
