Why do you think that what we have discussed makes the pretrib rapture is not imminent?

The Rapture can happen at any time: it's not connected to a specific event, but there are events that can only happen after it has happened.

As for Psalm 83: I think that war would happen after the Rapture but before the Tribulation. The Tribulation is not begun by the Rapture, but by the Antichrist signing an agreement with "many" (including Israel) as told in Daniel chapter 9:27. Nowhere does it say the Tribulation immediately begins after we are take from the Earth.

Make no mistake: we are in the season, and man is running out of time. We're closer than we think to the end of days.

My issue here is that Psalm 83 is not prophecy. There is nothing in Biblical prophecy that needs to happen before the rapture of the Church. So maybe Psalm 83 is not related to the rapture of the Church? :noidea:

According to the Psalm a coalition of nations and people that hate God have made a covenant against God and are conspiring against Israel to destroy her. This is prior to the rapture of the Church and the start of the tribulation.

From here.

There is no time line how long the tribulation is going to happen after the rapture of the Church. Could it be years?

Psalm 83: A prophecy regarding the nation of  Israel.  Muslims and Arabs are identified as God's enemies.

Since God knows the end from the beginning, He foreknew and foresaw the enmity of Muslims and Arabs against Israel.  He also predicted the ultimate outcome, which is that the one whose name is JEHOVAH is acknowledged as supreme over all the earth.

GOD IS ASKED TO INTERVENE

1 Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.

THE ENEMIES OF ISRAEL ARE GOD’S ENEMIES

2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

THESE ENEMIES ARE CRAFTY AND DECEITFUL

3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.

THESE ENEMIES ARE DETERMINED TO OBLITERATE ISRAEL

4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

THESE ENEMIES ARE UNITED IN THEIR HATRED

5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:

THESE ENEMIES ARE IDENTIFIED AS ARABS AND MUSLIMS

6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;

7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;

8 Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.

9 Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:

10 Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.

11 Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:

THESE ENEMIES DESIRE TO TAKE POSSESSION OF GOD’S HOUSES

12 Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.

PRAYER FOR THEIR UTTER DESTRUCTION AND HUMILIATION

13 O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.

14 As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;

15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.

16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.

17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:

THE ULTIMATE GOAL: TO ESTABLISH THE SUPREMACY OF JEHOVAH

18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

No, it is NOT related to the Rapture of the Church, and there is no reason to believe there is any connection whatsoever. But it does reveal the present reality and the future destruction of the enemies of the nation of Israel.

Someone brought this up at a gathering I attended last night.

For those that do not know, the Psalm 83 is about Israel being attacked by an alliance of the nations around it with the intent of destroying Israel completely. This has been interpreted to be a prophecy of an upcoming event.

The man at the meeting mentioned how he had recently watched a documentary on the 6-Day War in 1967, and from that believes that THIS event was the fulfillment of the Psalm 83 prophecy.

One point he noted is that Jerusalem, the City of God, is not mentioned in the prophecy - which makes sense for then because Jerusalem was not in the hands of the Jews when they were attacked then, but Jerusalem would be an issue now.

Evaluation?

Hi nebula,

I do believe that Psalm 83 was mostly fulfilled in the 6-day war in 1967, as that man said. Here are some details -

Speaking three weeks after the war ended, as he accepted an honorary degree from Hebrew University, Yitzhak Rabin gave his reasoning behind the success of Israel:

`Our airmen, who struck the enemies' planes so accurately that no one in the world understands how it was done and people seek technological explanations or secret weapons; our armored troops who beat the enemy even when their equipment was inferior to his; our soldiers in all other branches... who overcame our enemies everywhere, despite the latter's superior numbers and fortifications-all these revealed not only coolness and courage in the battle but...an understanding that only their personal stand against the greatest dangers would achieve victory for their country and for their families, and that if victory was not theirs the alternative was annihilation.`

Within six days, Israel had won a decisive land war. Israeli forces had taken control of the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan, and the Golan Heights from Syria.

Psalm 83.

V. 1 - 5 We see the enemies of God & Israel are conspiring together saying `Come let us wipe them out as a nation.`

In 1967 different countries around Israel took counsel together with one accord to destroy Israel from being a nation. For the first time in history these countries forgot their differences. They formed a confederacy to declare a `Jehud` - holy war to wipe the name of Israel from remembrance. These actual words were frequently broadcast over Radio Cairo & published in world newspapers. Unknowingly they were practically quoting directly from prophecy given 25 centuries ago. (Ps. 83: 4)

V. 6 - 8 Even the participants were accurately delineated - under ancient names.

ANCIENT NAME.....................MODERN NAME

Edom, Moab, Ammon................Jordan
Hagarenes, Amalek, Philistines...Egypt
Ishmaelites......................Arabia
Gebal, Tyre......................Lebanon
Assyria..........................Syria, Iraq

V. 9 - 18 And what was the outcome?

`Fill their faces with dishonour,....let them be ashamed & dismayed...let them be humiliated.....` (V. 16 & 17)

regards, Marilyn.

So you believe that Psalm 83 is history not future?
