Yes, & I just explained that plus

I did show how simple it is,,,,you do not have to be a scholar,,,,,,,to use a Strongs Dictionary, download  eSword

http://www.e-sword.net/downloads.html

It is a helpful tool without having to pull out & sort through out a bunch of books & texts

Thank you for this. I will look into it. thank you.

Here's another example of why Got Questions cannot be fully trusted, and neither can the modern Bible versions. The KJV has the correct rendering of this verse, which has "honour" -- not "respect" -- as the correct translation:

Scrivener's Textus Receptus 1894
πάντας τιμήσατε. τὴν ἀδελφότητα ἀγαπᾶτε. τὸν Θεὸν φοβεῖσθε. τὸν βασιλέα τιμᾶτε.
King James Bible
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
Young's Literal Translation
to all give ye honour; the brotherhood love ye; God fear ye; the king honour ye.

Strong's Concordance
timaó: to fix the value, to price

Original Word: τιμάω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: timaó
Phonetic Spelling: (tim-ah'-o)
Short Definition: I value at a price, honor
Definition: (a) I value at a price, estimate, (b) I honor, reverence.

HELPS Word-studies

Cognate: 5091 timáō – properly, assign value(give honor), as it reflects the personal esteem (value, preciousness) attached to it by thebeholder. See 5092 (timē).

Thank you for this. I'm not very much on new versions of Bibles.

So...if you replace respect with honour, that really does give the verse a different tone because-

if one was to sit a guest in the place of honour at the dinner table, that would usually be the best place, most probably the head of the table.

But folk have said they may respect someone but not like them - this picture of honouring(if we switch the word to respect) doesnt seem to gel with that thinking...

However, in Peter 2 v 17, loving the brotherhood , Peter is certainly talking about fellow believers only. Respect or (honour) is for all humanity.

To honour seems more powerful verb than respect.

2 Peter v 17:

Be respectful to all - keep loving the brotherhood, fearing God and honouring the emperor.

Complete Jewish Bible

Honour all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

NKJV

Being disrespectful to others does not show a flaw in their character but rather it shows a flaw in the character of the one being disrespectful.

The disciples show the need to deal with problems which were created by believers and not only of that time, but even through out the times and even today.

An example is one that , the believing servants of unbelieving masters had as part of their duty to look after the idols in their masters household, and had as in the past participate in those activities, Peter and Paule instruct that if your master wants you to be present, because he wants all under his authority to honor his Gods, follow his guide lines, do not cause problems , by imitating Daniel, because he has authority over your well being and your life, Paul said, submit to your masters, maybe by seeing your willigness to be a good servant , if some how there is a change in the servant after he had believe, perhaps he maybe interested to here the Gospel, e.x. If you had the chance to save him from drowning, do it, and save him even you may wish that he is dead, to end his mistreatment to you and others, and do not withdraw your support if he is attact by thiefs, they way David withdraw his support to have his captain keel, and take his wife, or for the servant to gain his freedom, one way to look at it.

The bible is for believers only.

I still honor my dad, who's living, but I am not told to honor my unsaved siblings, who I have nothing in common with.

I do pray for them and live then from afar as they are toxic people.

Phobeo is pronounced fah BEH oh.

Greek for a variety of meanings like worry or discomfort but in the NT fear can bet understood as a healthy understanding of who God is, His power and what He expects of us as believers.

The unbeliever should tremble in terror before such a God, for He is the one who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

For the believer, however, such fear is replaced by a relationship in which perfect love can flourish, though awe remains ofGod greatness remains.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
