Are the extra-biblical writings the Dead Sea Scrolls "dangerous" and to be avoided?

Perhaps a definition of extra-biblical is in order so that each person either has the same definition for sake of the discussion, or at least knows there may be different understandings of what an extra-biblical writing is  in the eye of other posters/commentators here.

It might be interesting to also include a definition of Canon to see if all have the same definition  there too; not so much as to there argue the merits of the definitions, but instead to better understand each other. For if we use the same words, extra-biblical and canon, but do not have the same defnitions then we talk past each other,  misunderstanding the nuance and even the plain meaning of each other's statements.

that is not necessarily true MG.    The Holy Bible does not have exclusive hold on the truth.....   many other writings have truth and history in them, and nothing wrong with using them unless they conflict with the Word......    and I don't mean one little thing.  Some have had both copy problems as has the Bible along with translation problems as has had the Bible.

It isn't a good thing in my mind to say anything but the Bible is a lie.    If it conflicts with the Bible I would say we should ignore it but to give to attach to the Bible the term exclusive use of Truth is stretching things way beyond reality.

Ok thanks, I looked them up.  I've read 1 & 2 Esdras.  Very good book.  Nothing wrong with it.  Some powerful prophesies.  Lots of good info.

[1]  The Bible says that God commanded Adam and Eve to have babies and to fill the earth.  Genesis 1:27-28a - "God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them and said to them, 'Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.'"

God knows the end in the beginning.  Everything he created is for us....for the long term.  God already knows that Adam is going to sin when he created him, and he created him to have children and populate the earth.  But it's all in God's timing.  Not Satan's.  That is what you are missing here.

Adam had to learn a few lessons first before going into Eve.  The passion is not turned on yet in Adam, and Adam and Eve are innocent, like little children.  Everything is new to them, and everything clean, and good and holy.  Little children do not know about sex, because they have to mature first.  Adam and Eve were the same.  They had to mature.

Please read it again carefully.  It's telling us Adam lived 800 yrs after he had Seth. (pause),.....now God is telling us that Adam begat sons and daughters.  It doesn't mean after Seth.  It's just a statement for the record.  No names, no details. 

Are you not curious who the girls were, and how many, and what their names were?

Yes that's what it says.  Adam is in full repentance, and does not care for the flesh.  God grants him his request and that's how it happened.

It seems to have error only in your eyes, because you've been warned to stay away from it.  You have come in to it with doubt, looking to pick it apart, and not because of a hungry spirit that wants to learn more.  Therefore the error is only in the eyes of the beholder and I have given my defense for you to consider.

It's good to be confident, but are you sure about that?  The scriptures say that the saints are to be persecuted?  Christ also gave us this parable so we can learn off him;

Wow, this presumes that sex is "naughty" when God created sex to be pleasure between man and WOman. 

Do you seriously believe there has ever been a man who didn't know what do with his "thing" when there was a naked woman in view? Adam needed the devil to entice him to have sex with his wife???  LOL...that's really funny. 

And it is just whack human philosophy disguised as spiritual wisdom....sort of. It shows a fertile imagination though, and for that I commend you.
