I agree with everything you said above.  The point I am making is that the founders allowed for this very thing, regardless of how distasteful it is when it opposes our viewpoint.  When it comes to the Constitution I find the intent in the actions of those who established the government and wrote the rules.

She's not laying down. She's "sorry" for the video she pre-planned and produced and hired the videographer for. And she's going to keep on against Trump. And she fears her career is over. But she's going to keep making fun of Trump where? If she has no career platform to perform on?

Apples and organges.   There was no Constitution when the burned the effigy of K George.  Secondly, they were fighting genuine terrorism.  They were not burning the effigy of one of the American leaders.    If she got up and held up a severed head of Kim Jung Un or a member of ISIS, it would probably be treated differently since she is not threatening the life of an American elected official.   That would be more in keeping with what the founders did.

If she wants to post a long monologue about her hatred of Trump and insult him and call him every name in the book, she is free to do so.   The founders and framers of the Constitution allow for that.

But this is not about her freedom of speech.  Our government has laws against any speech or any action that can be construed, in any way, as a threat to the life of the president.   What she did can be construed at least as a stated desire for such a thing to happen.  It is potentially giving inspiration to would-be attackers.

There is no difference at all.  America was a British colony at that time and King George was their King.  They deemed him a tyrant and rebelled, had they lost the war they would have been executed for this under his authority.  The rights they established were to make sure that the citizens of this country could legally oppose the government, whether it be by speech or by arms.  Any efforts to squash this are contrary to the very intention of the laws they established.

I doubt they anticipated this type of craziness from the citizenry, but it does not change that what she did is no different than them burning images of King George.  They knew what they were doing, and they made sure that the people would always have the right to speak out in the same manner that they did.  Kathy Griffin has done far more damage to herself than any fine would, she lost, no need to execute her like King George would have done.
