I see you and honesty are not really on a first name basis.  :(

1.  Would you like to answer the questions in opposition to your OP's--(Background "Just So" Story) in lieu of your Ad Hom Fallacy here?

2.  How exactly was I being 'dishonest'... Ya know, to SUPPORT your Ad Hom Fallacy...?

Try "Coherent' Substantive Arguments in lieu of: Insults, Baseless Assertions, and feeble Ad Hom Fallacies and 'The Trouble' Vaporizes.

On the shadow size question. There are two types of shadows cast. The darkest part of the shadow, is created within the yellow lines in the illustration. If the source of light (the Sun) is larger than the object blocking the light (the Moon), then there will be a shadow on the 'screen' (the Earth) which is smaller than the blocking object, the moon.

There is also another shadow cast. Since the Sun is not a pinpoint of light, but is larger than the moon, light is also blocked by the edges of the Moon, from extreme edges of the Sun, represented by the orange lines.

Of course, because this illustration is not to scale, these differences are exaggerated, but you can get the idea. Both the darker kind of shadow, and the wider, subdued shadow, are present on the Earth, during a full, Solar eclipse.

I would go and see the eclipse, if  thought it was a sure thing, but I am afraid it will be too cloudy.

That is getting a little too harsh, dial it back, and maybe you are right, ignore is an option.

The US is set to experience its first coast-to-coast total solar eclipse in almost a century on August 21 – giving millions of Americans the chance to observe the rare celestial event

So, who has plans to watch this live and in person?  I could not leave my backyard and be in the range between the total eclipse and the .9 magnitude!    A bunch of us have already taken the day off work and have a eclipse party planned.

When you are raised in NY & all the lights go out in NYC & you can't see the hand in front of your face it is a fright!    Oh,to be young & innocent:wub:

Well, it is science and it show's God's majesty in my opinion.

Is that close enough!  :P
