This is my own opinion. Not so much fact bass but just my views of the way I see things. So keep that in mind before asking me to show prove of every little thing I say.   I've been think again. I am hearing some say that the poor in the US are not as poor in people in other countries.  While I guess you can say that is true.  As our government does try to provide housing and food for people who are down and out. But  I think that  in some ways in the US, your not really allowed to be poor. In some ways it is illegal to be so. What I mean is, we all have seen families in third world countries all huddle together in a hunt made of grass, sleeping on a dirt floor, eating whatever they are able to find. But in the US, if you have children and you live that way, you can expect a visit from CPS and have your children taking away from you due to unsafe living conditions. In fact CPS has been know to take children away due to the parent being unable to pay the electric bill or not having running water in the home. I am not saying they shouldn't. But the point I am making is, you are simply not allowed to live as a family  in the US as the poor do in other countries. So yes, the poor in the US must seek out help for housing, food, and even utilities if they want to be able to keep their children. Many cities in the US have passed laws making it illegal to be homeless. For example in many cities, it’s illegal to publicly camp.  Illegal to sleep in public, and illegal to panhandling. In some cities it is illegal to live and sleep in your car. I have even heard stories about people being fine for providing food to the homeless.   Many cities also have laws were you must have the means to fix and repair your house. If you are unable to do so you can be fine and then jail for being unable to pay the fine.

I am not saying that these laws should or should not be. But I hear people complaining about how the poor in the US are so much better off. As if they shouldn't be.  But I am not going to debate that here and now. As I said this is simply an opinion bass post. But I for one am thankful that many of  the poor in the US do not need to live as the poor in third world countries do. I hope they never have to. Though I am concern when I hear people complain about the poor in the US not being like the poor in other countries.    So would people who say such things rather have the poor living in grass hunts sleeping on dirt floors?  Because in away, your not allowed to live that way  in the US.

Thank You! I hope you have enjoyed my little opinion piece. :)

I think you have raised some good points, sister.  It shows for one thing, how poverty is in some ways considered to be relative to the society a person lives in.  For example, not that far back in history a dirt floor was pretty much considered normal, rather than poor, but because the vast majority in our society now live with better floors, dirt floors are now considered substandard.  More than anything I believe you are showing how oppressed the poor are.  In a fallen world the stronger usually oppress the weaker and that's the way it is.  This is not so with the kingdom of God though, thankfully!  The bible says having food and raiment to be content with that.......and that is the only standard we need to have as believers in Christ.

Just my 2 cents...

Government has replaced churches, community and charity with forced socialism. No matter your race, religion or background, we all have the same opportunity for success via free public school and a myriad of support and opportunities out there. There are countless minorities who have become rich and successful, so let's not use race as an obstacle. Instead of using child bearing as a sport of pleasure and means of more welfare money (loss of natural affection), it's not societies responsibility to raise and support others uncaring and bad decisions of financial and moral responsibility for a child's welfare and support.

But, it's not the child's fault! No it's not, it's the progenitor's fault and responsibility falls on the parents and family. The government doesn't produce one barrel of oil or one bushel of wheat, it takes from the productive and distributes it to the politicians choice for votes. That diminishes my ability to provide for myself and my own family.

Charity is called charity for a reason. In no instance has socialism ever been a success or lasted. I know, we just haven't tried the right kind of socialism yet... To give a society everything they want, by necessity must take everything you have to pay for it. I won't go into bread and circuses.

To sum it up. Poverty is self inflicted in this country by lack of pride, morals, ethics, and plain old laziness.

Comments like this are not rooted in reality. Well maybe that has been your reality but it has not been the reality for others.  The reality for others is  bad things happen in life and not all of them are your fault. Someone gets sick. The car dies leaving you with no way to get to work. The only factory in town just closed its doors. Unplain pregnancy happens between a married couple working as hard as they can just to get by.  A husband of 20 years just walks out on his wife and their three young children.

Why is that? Could it be because church members have adopted this assumption that the poor are simply lazy and immoral?  Or perhaps they felt it was not their job.  That when the time came when the church ask its people to give that many members closed their hearts and their money purses thinking the poor deserve what has happen to them?  Casting a net of judgment upon them as they are somehow unworthy of our compassion. After all are dare they allow themselves to become poor in the first place.

Amen, sister amen............

Sadly I think soon the poor will be rounded up, and put in WORK CAMPS to earn their keep.  Wont be called work camps, the govt will probably call it fun camps

or resorts .   Anything to make it sound better .   And be on guard with this judas Iscariot redistribution of wealth.

These elites say this, NOT cause they care one ounce for the poor, its cause they will control the system.

Ponder this.   For years we have paid taxes..........they came up with income tax, tax

and we are more taxed than ever. Which I am not complaining , but making a point.

Over the years , since even the income tax and other taxes increased, social security etc

they get more money than ever......YET the world is in debt more than ever.  The rich get richier etc,

These goals they propagandize and make seem as good, aint for the people, ITS for elites to keep getting richer.

THE CHURCH needs to take care of its own.   Sure pay taxes , cause we give unto ceasar which is his and unto GOD that which is his.
BUT people need to quit trusting in men .  GOD alone who is to be trusted.

And look at the US compared to most countries.............give me, and they got all this tech , all these games

money etc.............yet the people are more depressed than ever, more suicidal than ever,

ONLY GOD can FULLFILL...................one can be poor as dirt with no money , YET IF THAT ONE has GOD.............I guarantee his joy is far greater

than all these who have so much .   Society has no right to take anyones kids.   Lest they being beaten etc.

THIS COUNTRY would do good , IF its so called churches of prosperity and these rich leaders

would go to the poor in south America..........YET ...................the poor who have JESUS ..................HAVE FAR MORE PEACE and JOY than all these others do.

It is not about what we have in this world nor what we lack in this world.............the ONLY THING that matters IS DO WE KNOW GOD and HAVE CHRIST .

I know most think their is no way people can be rounded up , poor taken off the streets and put into work camps here in ole America.

But if you think it cant happen........one simply deceives themselves.

They will make it illegal to be homeless soon.  And the middle class is going to keep getting much poorer.

But ponder this.  With this all inclusive world , gays transgenders, everyone accepting everything and calling it love.

HOW Much longer before a true christain wont even  be able to hold a job, due to society will run them out.

then , since it will be illegal to be homeless......I guess more and more go to the work camps.  I mean FUN CAMPS.............

I wonder if the jews thought they were fun camps..............I bet they KNEW what is was .  Society didn't care for them

NOR WILL IT FOR US either.   in fact every religion , even mainstream christainity will be against the true biblical lambs .

OH WELL, I fear nothing coming.... I HAVE THE LORD , HE FEEDS BIRDS...................HE WIL ME TOO.   SING IT PEOPLES

SING IT OUT LOUD and PRAISE THE LORD , and ps..........FLEE any concept of all inclusive , interfaith mindsets.

I've been wondering the same, frienduff thaylorde......in an increasingly technological and automated world, more and more people are getting marginalized.....and the poor are getting poorer and growing in numbers.

Amen.......He feeds the sparrows and we are worth more than many sparrows, bless you.

There will always be poor.

 There will also  be government

There will always be un untended consequence, strange anomAlies, and endemic misdirection of good ideas for help.

I suspect I have faced most every one of them  in my current life in this flesh.

One of the oddest was to receive threat from the Salvation Army that I would be arrested if I helped  a minor nephew that had been thrown out of his house. Their "officer" actually came to my house left a business card and message that I must call him or face arrest, and then threatened me  on the phone with arrest should  the nephew show up and I gave him shelter for I would be interferring.  Somehow I doubt that is what was envisioned when the Salvation Army contracted to become part of the child protective agency for the State. I suspect they thought they could use government money to do good.

There is always the unplanned  consequence of actions, not all of it good. Much of it bad.

Locally the YMCA runs the public school buildings aftercare programs. It is a wild thing attended by ill trained overworked "kids". It is a bad place to leave a child for the afternoon, but what else is there for the working family? It is not what was envisioned I am sure.

It is easy to be poor, and it is also a hard thing, yet I do find it interesting that so many poor  can also find time and money  available to be on the internet socializing, all very odd and I suspect unintended consequences of someone's best intentions and "program" of helps.

Seems if a person is poor and working they are not entitled, but instead somewhat punished; while if a person does  nothing they are rewarded hugely, get to buy lobster at the super market on the first week of the month with food stamp benefits and sell them at  a personal cash raising discount to the local underground market for the feast of the lobsters each month.

It just doesn't take long to learn to game the system.

None the less there is need, real need, and it is the high privilege and the absolute duty of the saints in Christ Jesus to go into all the world with "a cup of cool water" and the gospel of Jesus to share. Each saint  is to strive to share of the Gospel of their Lord so that many may be presented as mature in Christ come the time of the last harvest and judgement.

Praise God for His mercy and grace, His generosity to  undeserving sinners called by the Holy Spirit to repentance, washed white as snow by the shed blood of Jesus, that eternal life may be spent  in the presence of God.

Joy does come in the morning! It is well, it is well with my soul -because Jesus is  Lord God and personal savior.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
