I was too brother. I broke my foot almost two years ago. It rendered me  very inactive and a lil depressed because I couldnt move around. Im not a young chicken anymore so this break ( I have broken many bones over the yrs including the other foot!) .  Being on my own, the injury is compounded because my foot prob didnt heal the way it could have if I had some help. God has been gently nudging to be a well rounded not literally :), whole ,free of bondage child of his .  So what do we do? We get busy and strive towards being free with his strength!  Praise the Lord!

Ive been on my healthy eating plan again just eating the basics like raw veggies, cooked veggie, and lean protein. I drink a 30gr low sugar protein drink for one meal as well.  I am moving alot more. I am exercising now even though with knees wrapped, ankles wrapped, it still hurts.  I was  20 over my ideal weight and quite frankly I felt awful! I was convicted. I took the white flour and  sugars from my diet. That is after all what most people are addicted to.  Im on my way down and I am feeling and looking better. I will pray for you!! Plz pray for me too.  You can PM me if you need some help. Ill even send you some info to get you started.

Blessings :)

Well I was hard bodied most of my life and vanity was there big time... I am not facially attractive and that saved me from being a ladies man (praise God!) but was terribly immoral man: woman was my constant desire! I am still haunted by that which I consider dead beside me...  So all this to say not having anything to attract the opposite sex is a plus for me and I fear to even go back to physical fitness! What horrifies me most is that which loved immorality is still here with me and I hate all that he is~ yet he does not: so with all my ability I reckon him dead but I am aware of the presence for it is like war within my being... Even though I wish to honor God with this (being more disciplined in weight)~  I am afraid of the time and effort will focus me wrong and I will slip backward to the dead things... When I say I want to be free of all this I mean it - I so mean it!

You mean it would cause you to stumble if I ate a Dunkin dounut in front of you?

Nevermind ic, I meant stumble in the faith, not the tummy.

Gluttony is as much a sin as over drinking

She gave 4 reasons why SHE doesn't drink, I didn't see where she condemn you or even mentioned you.

She did not just condemn me, but anyone that drinks at all...

People drink to get a buz whether they admit to it or not. Yes, that is sin.  The LORD has told us to come out of the world.

Show me a person who just takes a sip so that they dont get buzzed and Ill show you a flying saucer

The whole "causing a brother to stumble" is so often used as a club and never taken consistency.

I wonder how many Christians would sell their car or their house if a brother told them it was causing them to stumble in the area of envy?  I bet that number would be zero.

If it does not alters the state of your mind, then it becomes just another drink.  However, if it changes your personality to cause you to stumble, then yes it is leaving room for the devil to take advantage of your state and you become vulnerable to doing unpleasant things and acts and you are then responsible for your actions which can  be sinful.   satan loves this, to show the bait and hide the hook.

She didn't say that on the post in question...on the post you quoted that I responded to.

It is all tied together, each post should not be taken as a stand-alone thought when in the same thread.

Speaking on the scriptures of not causing someone to stumble and abstaining from the appearance of evil:

This is how I think about it. I am a follower of Christ 24/7. If I go out to have a drink or even a drink with a meal in a restaurant ;how can I in good conscious be w/o appearance of sin to the lost waitress I aim to witness to?  The lost arent versed in the bible and they have all kinds of judgements about christians . They throw it around that we should be perfect because they do not know any better.  If I have a beer or glass of wine sitting in front of me; I have taken myself out of the game.

I USED to go out and have a beer or a glass of wine at the resort here where I live. I dont do dive bars. Sorry! Not my kind of crowd. But  as I grew up IN Christ, I felt more and more uncomfortable. The truth of the matter is that I was fighting  not getting a buzz!!  I had to be honest about it with my LORD and with myself. Alcohol has one purpose: To get a BUZZ.

So that is one reason. Another reason: Why create  a hurdle with witnessing when I can avoid it? I dont want to take the focus off of Jesus! His gospel is center stage with me now.  I abstain from any appearance of evil if I can help it. It doesnt matter if we intend to only drink half the beer or half the glass of wine.  The person  one who walks in and has seen you out and about spreading the gospel doesnt know any different!   They dont know if that is your first or your 3rd. Why  would we set hurdles up for  ourselves ?  That is not legalism but that is following scripture. Today it seems if you are radical and fight daily to obey, you are a legalist. phft

Another  reason is that I have not built up a tolerance by making alcohol  a part of my life.  One good sized sip does get me a buzz! Right then and there I have crossed over from sober into feeding my flesh. I am certainly not feeding my spirit!!  Think about THAT! Why dont YOU who advocate drinking  get a buzz at the first  sip?  Which btw, unless you are obese, one beer equals one shot equals 8 oz of wine per hr is considered drunk where I live.  If obesity  is the case, you have more than one problem :) Im just being real!  Are you?

Why not take yourself out of the ways of the world and be done with it?  Glorify Jesus. Put yourself in a place where noone can accuse you of ungodly behavior so spreading the good news to the lost is navigated easier than not.

my 2 cents.

Blessings :)

I hear you brother. What I am hearing is fear is dictating your actions and could possibly have you in bondage. I dont mean any disrespect when I say there is no freedom in being fat. It is unhealthy. We are to care for out temples in all ways. I am not guilt free. I still have some issues. I was only replying to your comment to me.

Taking care of ourselves doesnt have to turn into an idle. Being physically fit does not dictate sinning.   It is what it is and no more!

I say this in love brother:

Are you fully trusting the Lord to keep you from immorality if you create boundaries in your flesh to do so?

If you hate your sin ( I think you do) and you love the LORD with everything  you have ( I think you do) , you can trust your Lord and Savior to give you strength to have fullness in health and fitness w/o sinning.

I thank you so much for opening your heart to me and sharing your fears. It is not easy to do on a online forum. Being real and transparent is  precious to me.  I guess because I am one who is very guarded and I know how vulnerable I feel when I have let it all hang out.

Now I know how to pray for you. Dont let the enemy win enoob! He is not the master of your ship.  Dont give him a foothold.  It is bondage! The LORD who is faithful is your master! God didnt give your a spirit of fear but of power and love  a sound mind.

Cast off all that is contrary to the word. Like nike says: JUST DO IT!

Blessings :)

I said getting a buzz is sin. I didnt condemn you or anyone else. Are your emotions rendering you helpless to comprehend?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
