Lets go into (James 2:14-18, 20-26) (v.14) What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? Can faith save him? (v.15) If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of a daily food, (v.16) And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? If someone came to you hungry and needed clothes and all you told them was peace be unto you, and God bless you, be ye warmed and filled. All you did was give lip service, no works, you didn’t help the problem.

(v.17) Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. The bible has been telling you all alone that you must have fruits to prove your faith. (v.18) Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. True faith goes hand in hand with good works. (v.20) But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Did you know that? Has anybody ever read this verse to you? How can you, after reading this verse ever say again that we need not work? You can have all the faith you want, but if you have no works to go along with that faith, that faith is in vain, that faith is dead.

(v.21) Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? We read where Abraham, the father of the faithful showed the Lord his faith by his works. (v.22) Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? (v.23) And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD AND IT WAS IMPUTED UNTO HIM FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS: and he was called the friend of God. (v.24) Ye see then how that by works a man is Justified, and not by faith only. Do you see that also? Do you understand that you need works to go along with that faith; if you love and fear God then you should have no problem obeying his commandments.

(v.25) Likewise also was not Ra’-hab the harlot justified by works, when she received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? Ra’-hab showed her faith in God and her fear of God by doing good works. (v.26) For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. Take it or leave it, but this is the true uncut word of God. Just as the body is dead when you take away the spirit (breath) so faith is dead if you have no works.

Agreed, but NOT to earn salvation.

Folks, please compare the above quote from Bro. Tan with Scripture:

"But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them." (Ephesians 2:4-10, NASB, emphasis mine)

I'll let you make up your own minds.

How can I be saved from the fire of Jeloucy ?

What can I do to be Saved (from jeloucy)?

I thank Jesus for the for been the propritiation for our sins, and giving us the eternal life when we believe.

I agree with all of Paul you post, know problem with that at all. But Paul wrote about other matters as well, concerning salvation and we can not ignore other writing of Paul. If do not have a clear understanding of the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation you may have problem with understanding Paul. God had Peter to clearly warn you about some of Paul’s writing.  (2Peter:3:15-16) (v.15) And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; (v.16) As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

People we must realize, that it is the keeping of God’s holy laws that separates the righteous from the unrighteous. Paul said in (Titus: 3:8) This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. You must learn (by the word of God) what God expects of you and maintain his expectations to the end, if you expect to be saved.

I am not worrying about you , does and does not matter how you believe that we are saved.

In one hand you believe in Jesus and Jesus knows who believes in him, he does not need our confession and no ones testimony.

Paul took a lot of time to write many pages about this matter, and we have to thank those of the group of circumcision, and the others who were  living under the shadow of the fear of sin, been tormented and hoped not to die a suddent death, and thus not having the chance to confess their sins and ask for forgiveness.

Paul explained it with various examples that they are trying to earn what already have the eternal life ( which Jesus), because of their faith in him.

By beliving in him they have him, they are in him, he is their Savior from the descented inheritance.

Now they are in the ascended inheritance.

Jesus axcepts people not according to their understading about some of basic trouths about his work on the Cross.

Jesus knows who believes.

As in the extreeme example when a believer in Jesus Christ believed that he was going to Hell because of his bondage to earthly things and defects of character.

Jesus Christ took him to Heaven because he was in him, because of his faith and he could not understand and axcept that and had learn to judge himself as unworthy.

He did ot find his peace while he lived but only after he died.

Jesus died in his perfect love for us, so we do not lived in the fear of the saddow of death, but to thank him and praise him in his presence all the days of our lifes.

Refraine from sin, so the devil cannot tempt you, or we are not tempted by are own desires.

We have to Look for sound teachings, so we the diceiving spirits dont have room to fool us that are from God, by reciting scripture but changing and distort the meaning, taking us from a scripture from the far east, to a scripture in the far west, and ignoring the propose why those scriptures were given to us.

Some even been afraid to experience the fellowship of the Holy Spirit and the living guidance of the Holy Spirit, they only want tangable guidance. They are looking for a group to cling to.

Jesus taught us to worship him in spirit and in truth.

For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.

It goes back to what I said, that you cannot continue to live an unregenerate existence and still expect to be saved. Those who are truly saved will make mistakes but otherwise will not want to sin any longer.

Paul was talking about those who have received knowledge but havent accepted that knowledge

This is Paul's discerning the need to make sure that it is God in us doing the controlling ... after all this great Godly man who had seen and given so much still had the warfare within himself of Rom 7 into Rom 8... After all Lucifer is a deceiver and wants the position of God! Flesh and s/Spirit the war of all wars equates to that of God and satan in battle of truth verses lie... and the truth that sets us free 'IS' God has already won!

In Rom 8:35, 38-39 there are 17 things that can't separate the agape love that is in us. Either you believe the Gospel or you don't.

Good point my friend...because all this work Jesus did, people have problem with making adjustments in their lives. Many are traveling down the wrong road, which leads to destruction. (Matt 7:13,14) This is because many of us have heard about salvation but few of us want to do what is necessary to get salvation (many are called but few are chosen). Many contend that Jesus did it all and now all we have to do is have faith. The bible says, we must not only be a hearer of the word, but a doer of the word also (James 1:21-22).

Bro.Tan  ... Nice to talk with you.  A question though.  Could you think you can stand against the wiles of the devil, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life on your own.  Temptation can come in varying degrees that the devil knows how to put you to the test.   The flesh is buried with Christ with your salvation and your spiritual man has come to the forefront where before it was dead. You have been given a new life,so to speak and while we are in this world we would go through the trials of life and the traps that are set for the believer.

So what you may see some as being in degenerate sin, may and could be some severe trial that is upon them.   The bible does say that not to be alarmed when the fiery trials would come upon you.  It is not saying that we would commit deliberate sin and boast of it, no, then that is not sanctification of a believer.  The born again believer has been crucified with Christ and in his death and now share in his resurrection spirit as Paul said in Romans 8.

If the believer is crucified with Christ, could he undo that crucifiction ?.

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Verse 13 here i think summarizes how the Christian is to live the life he has as a spiritual man with a body of flesh.  If you don't recognize that your spirit takes precedent in this walk and the flesh with its carnal lust is still here to oppose the spirit then you would live a life of the flesh and seperated from God.   The flesh lust against the spirit against the flesh. When we recognize this, we have to use the tools provided for us as in Ephesians to stand against the powers that be.

Galatians 5   King James Version (KJV)

16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

I agree and understand what you saying, but since the Lord is the author of eternal salvation we can only obtain it by serving him his way (Hebrews 5:9). Some choose to rely on the wisdom of their pastor by putting his word above God's word. Nevertheless, in judgment each one of us will give account for our own salvation. Therefore, we must not let anyone lead us down the wrong path, but should verify all of our teaching with the holy bible. YOUR SALVATION IS AT STAKE! "...work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" (Philippians 2:12).

Jesus warned us that the road to salvation is straight and narrow and that only a few of us will find it. DON'T FOOL YOURSELF! If we really have faith in Jesus our actions will prove it. If Jesus is our Lord then we will obey him. Even a child will obey a parent, by getting good grades in school, for the reward of a new bicycle. The child cannot earn money for the bicycle, but instead must act upon their faith to receive the free gift. We must do the same to receive eternal life. "FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD"(James 2:20).

To "get" salvation is based on belief in the resurrection and the finished work of the cross Bro.Tan. Do you believe it is finished at the cross?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
