Quite an interesting idea. I guess by 'sin' you mean falling short of the bulls-eye in target-speak. Missing the mark is another way of putting that.
So, I accidentally poured sugar on the counter when I made my tea just now. A sin.

I wake in the night and my mind drifts to sinful thoughts - or they might just be temptations. If I do not know the difference, then that is a sin.

To sin is to miss the mark. God's mark, HIS standard, HIS target for us as HIS children. ( not somebody else s mark or standard).   I miss the mark (sin) through out the day. I can wake up praying, acknowledge Him for guidance, get coffee and set down to the computer, log in to Worthy, read a post by Neighbor, and mentally get angry and tell him (mentally)to quit being so long winded, and miss the mark. (sorry Neighbor, I needed a volunteer) I say it's not hard to miss the mark because I have a lifetime of habits to deal with. Yes, in Christ I'm a new creature, still with the old habits, emotional, physical, mental, etc. I can do all things in Christ, but not instantly. I work out my salvation. A sinful temptation is just that, a temptation. I (we) get them every day, all day long. If you don't, your comatose. Temptations are NOT sin. It's what you DO about the temptation.

The more I confess instantly after the sin, the more I find myself confessing, and the more I'm aware of sin. I do not ask forgiveness, His word says when I confess, He forgives me, and cleanses me from all unrighteousness. (this is in the top ten scripture verses, especially for those claiming to not sin) If I catch myself on the edge of falling (into sin) I say "that's sin, but I choose to obey". And then move on. I don't obsess over it, I confessed it if I fall. No more morbid introspection. I'm acknowledging my Creator, so I receive His direction, and see His path. I strive for better aim.  I do not rebuke/blame  the devil. But I do mentally or verbally quote scripture, the ones that God gave to me to stay on track, to sharpen my aim, so I hit more of His targets, His standards, His goal for me. The more I recognize the mark (His targets) the more I recognize how I have to stay aware of my thoughts, and constantly take them captive. It's very easy to forget, getting caught up in some activity, outward or inward, and not stay focused, not keep my eyes on the target. So I'm constantly acknowledging God, reaching out for His hand, as I realize how hard it becomes, the more I become aware of all the "targets", my goal to please Him.

I do not understand why anyone would believe that an accident, pouring sugar on the counter, would be considered a sin. I have many such "accidents" through the day, but they are just that accidents. Now, I might sin against my wife's standard, messing up her kitchen, but she knows my heart, and has compassion on my clumsiness.  I honestly believe God sees us like little children, starting out, struggling  to hit His target. But the more we grow, the more He expects of us, as our aim should have improved. And now we should see things differently, less for outward appearance, and more of the inward parts, our thoughts. God is light. He can see in the dark(ness). The more I have victory in hitting His mark, the more targets pop up.  But thats's OK, because..................

1Co_10:13  There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it..
Luke 12;   For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required:

Perhaps you are misunderstanding. By admitting that we can't stop sinning, we are talking about 'within ourselves' which is all the more reason we see our need to look to Jesus. Those who see themselves as sufficient and can go without sinning have less reason to rely on Jesus...and in their 'self sufficiency' they do sin!!

What do you think this means yowm.  IF you walk after THE SPIRIT you WILL NOT fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

I Know if we sin we do have an advocate .  I know many have erred since coming .   Heck, did you not even correct me on how I approached you concerning neighbor the other day.

IF we have the SPIRIT and we are in any error, IF any corrects we get convicted.    My whole point was ,  where on earth is the gravity.

IF people really saw sin as we should see it.......you can bet we sure would be praying more for help from GOD against it

and that we would be fast to repent of it too.    We really need to get far more grave about this .    that is what I am saying .

Sister .  that is such a wonderful point.  I noticed in these times most would rather say we cant stop sinning

rather than to take the serious grave approach like paul and others did.   IF we don't approach sin as grave we in trouble.

Cause everyone has vile wicked flesh and it the attitude is hey we cant stop sinning , instead of LET not these things be even named once among you

or let he who names the name of Christ depart from inquity,  then their will be no real sense of death that sin really brings .   Gravity goes a long way

on working on the inner consicious .    I mean CHRIST knew how wicke sin was , he gave a sermon on how it would be better to cut of what sins than to continue in it

and end , yes his own words, and end in hellfire.  Talk about a wake up call to go and sin no more .   JESUS words really dig deep in the conscious if we hear them

and don't try and twist them .   THEY work deep in the inner conscious.   We need to be far more grave as a people than most I see today. far more

cause OUR LORD knew the dangers of continuing n sin and so did those apostels.   hard core warners agasint sin they were.   ITS what the church needs back in it .

AMEN frienduff......"our Lord knew the dangers on continuing in sin and so did those apostles.  hard core warners against sin they were.  Its what the church needs back in it."  YES, oh yes, that's exactly what is needed, amen.

People don't realize that to expect us to continue to sin, or to think it's just normal, and to teach along those lines, is actually compromise.  It's actually giving place to the devil, giving him a foothold instead of giving him no room at all.  Yes it's true the word does say that IF we sin we have an Advocate, but notice it says IF we sin, it doesn't say WHEN we sin, as though that is to be expected........because it isn't.....because we have a new nature that doesn't sin.  BUT the devil didn't get the memo so he will keep trying to get us to sin until we learn to resist Him by the Spirit of Christ that dwells in us, our new nature.....and we're not going to resist sin if we make room for it by excusing it.  That is the danger of compromise.  We do not bring condemnation, but we are to preach an uncompromised message.....that brings conviction to anyone in a sin of any kind.  And that is what cleanses and washes the Body of Christ.....feels like fuller's soap, refiner's fire sometimes......but it's for our good.  We are just so unused to it in our generation we find it very hard to endure the sound doctrine, but it does get easier as more of the dross is scrubbed away with that soap.

It is possible to avoid sinning for 5 seconds. This is not a hard thing for us Christians!

There are many ways we scan do this and even go further. For example, when we pray, when we praise and more when we wait on the Lord.

we can accomplish this by doing many things in God.

Yes, I see what you are saying.....so it's by His spirit and nature within us, the new man, that we cease from sinning, not relying on our selves.  Our old man is to be dead....our flesh and carnal nature that we are to put off and so the life we now live is by Christ in us.

Galations 2:20

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

This is how I have come to understand it Yowm, only by thankfully being well taught by the Lord, because I never used to understand all this............that when we come to faith in Christ we receive a new SINLESS nature, like newborn babes.......yes, SINLESS, just imagine!  but we are not taught in the churches what sin is nor to fight temptation when it comes, whether in thoughts or deeds, and so many sort of slide back into sins as soon as they are reborn, and think it's normal.  And I want to add that the issue of thoughts is serious....because it's when thoughts conceive that they give birth to sin.  So the church badly needs to stop going easy on sin and making excuses for them and instead preach and teach what the bible actually says about it, not going beyond what is actually written.....and in that there is cleansing from sin and victory over it.  We can do all things in Christ who strengthens us, yes we can, because that is not a lie.......but you are so right, it isn't a fleshly strength, it's just His gentle Spirit that steers us away from sinning as we learn to yield/submit to Him and resist the devil......Christ Jesus is our new sinless nature.

I came to the awareness, that even though I didn't deliberately sin, or want to take unclean thoughts,
that if my thoughts were allowed to go free, unclean ones would come in.
You don't choose to take such thoughts. It is only when you are thinking them then you realize,
and wonder how long you have been on that thought train.

I needed a way to control my runaway mind.
Besides that. The Lord shamed me.
He called me a she-camel, and a donkey in heat.
It may sound funny, but somehow I knew what He was talking about.

How canst thou say, I am not polluted,
I have not gone after Baalim?
see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done:
thou art a swift dromedary traversing her ways;
A wild ass used to the wilderness, that snuffeth up the wind at her pleasure;
in her occasion who can turn her away?
all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.

Jeremiah 23:24

Here is where Jesus says sin comes from.

And He said, That which comes out of the man, that defiles the man.
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts,
adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness,
deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Mark 7:20-23

Thank you. I don't see it like that, Other One.

Before I turned to Jesus, I could not do one second of life right,
because I was facing the wrong way.
It is like saying how can one do shoveling wrong. Shoveling is too easy. And not realizing that you are holding the blade and trying to dig with the handle. I don't know if that's best analogy. But it is what happens when we work from our own righteousness, thinking we can do no wrong, when we don't understand God's righteousness yet.

And even when I converted,  there was the momentum of a lifetime of habit to change.
I had to strive hard to change that. To lose my life for His sake.

Rejoice
Paul

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
