Can an unmarried couple sleep in the same bed and they know they aren't going to have sex?

My girlfriend is coming up to visit me and she is obviously staying in my house (I still live with my parents since I'm in college). Can we share a bed when we know we're not going to be having sex? We have already said that is off the table and we know we're saving ourselves for marriage.

In my opinion, there are several reasons why, this is poor idea.

It looks bad.

It is a temptation that you do not need, no matter how self disciplined you think you are. Why invite potential problems?.

There are alternatives, like you sleeping on a floor or couch in another room, or finding someone else, to put one of you up, or even getting a hotel room for one of you.

You asked! What I am wondering, is will you take the advice offered here by others, or are you just hoping to find support for what you want to do? No need to answer, that is a question for you to answer to yourselves.

BTW, Welcome to Worthy!

my wife and I did just that off and on weekends for several months before we got married 47 years ago.. And I was living alone....    I don't know that I would recommend it though for several of our friends didn't seem to like the idea.   How do your parents feel about it?

It is good that your parents will be in the home. No, it would be way too tempting for you to sleep in the same bed as your girlfriend before marriage.

My parents aren't Christians so they're still surprised that neither of us has had sex yet in our lives.

She and I have never had sex before in our lives and we're 21 and 22 years old. We can wait.

It will make a huge difference in your marriage, so whatever you have to do to keep it that way you should do it.

You should be working on your parents..

My parents don't want to follow God. I don't harass them about it.

BTW there are some good Christian books you can get to make sure you know how to make sure your wife enjoys things when you do get married......    Best gift I got from my dad.....    gave it to my son.

Harassing them won't do any good anyway......   Just  be ready to talk with them when the Holy Spirit is ready for you to.
