Before i beign, i would like to argue the previous point. We are not automatically linked to the religon of our parents. My dad is a "born-again hindu" my mom belives we get to heaven by good works and won't have anythign to do with God, my brother belives we came from apes, and i KNOW that jesus died on the cross for my sins and i accpeted him as my personal Lord and Savior. I was not born having accepted Christ. Had that been true, how can little children accept Christ?

Now, to answer the question. I will also try to keep this short. When i was abotu eight years old, the Lord set up a bunc of little things that got me to VBS(Vacation Bible School) and the Pastor's wife led me to the Lord. That was June 27th 1998. On August 22, 1999, while my mom was in Korea(military) i was baptised. It wasn't until about 2001-02 that i finally went to someone and told them that i had been dobuitng my salvation for along time. Instead of helping, i just became more confused. Eventually, because of this situation actually, i became sure of my salvation. It was about the summer 2002 when i went to church camp that i actually relized what it was like to know for sure there was a God, that he saved me from the pits of Hell, and that i could trust Him. The first case when i had to trust him was on the white water rapids (levels 3-5).

Around the beginnig of eigth grade(last school year) i relized what it was like to actually understand the bible and have a little prayer. Now, about a year and a half later, i actually have a prayer life, i am not a "double minded man" between home and church, and i try to have devotions every day,and mostly have that. The Lord has been showing me ways that i can be a witness to people and has been giving me the boldness to do so. He has also been giving me a burden for lost souls.

It took time and patience, and it was all the work of the Lord.

I grew up in the CoC and knew of the Lord all my life. In my mid teens I had a really big falling out with the doctrine and like any normal teenager instead of looking for the right place I just rebelled. Spent several years I'd give most anything to take back, but that's spilt milk and I'll have to let Jesus take care of those years.

I came to my senses by age 22 or so but didn't really get involved and spent more time reading about pagan and Luciferic doings than I did reading my bible. I had read it several times and thought it was pretty boring to re read.

Late one night in the mid to late 70's, in the shower being forcefully acosted by a demon, I became very confused. I really think I had decided that this demon was on the good side and was about to talk him into my life.

There was a scream of the word "NO" so loud that I actually felt the vibrations in my body. It scared me half to death for I thought it was me that screamed, but my wife was just outside the door and didn't hear a thing.

My life changed drastically from the moment of the word "No". It took me a while to really understand all that had happened, but my studies turned to the bible and all it has to offer.

You could talk to me for the rest of eternity and would not be able to convince me that that "NO" did not come from the Holy Spirit. My walk has grown since that day a little each day, but that night I made the decision that Jesus was my complete Lord and I was his to with as he pleases.

Matthew 18

1 At the same time came the disciples to Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

2 And Jesus called a little child to him, and set him in the middle of them,

3 And said, Truly I say to you, Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

I answered the lords voice 3 different times in my life.7yrs old I had a friend that attended bible class after school one day a week. I really enjoyed bible class and although I don't remember professing my faith I reflect and think this was when my name was written in the book. My parents wre agnostic at best so I didn't have a lot of support in that area.

at 19 yeras of age was my second acknowledgement of the Father. A man picked me up hitch hiking in northern Ontario. He claimed to be a carpenter from London Ontario and he was working on a cabin that a recently deceased relative had left his sister. He explained to me how if he hit his thumb with a hammer, instead of cussing he would holler "Praise the Lord". He was an effective witness because right there in the middle of the wilderness on this old logging road he convinced me to become annointed. He stopped his truck on the side of the road, put on some worship/praise music and proceeded to pray for me. It was awesome.I felt like a million bucks for a while. Unfortuneately I never saw him again and once again I didn't have anybody to fellowship with. My relationship with God faded for quite a long time.

32 years of age. My father died of cancer, my girlfriend left me for my drummer and I lost most of my friends do to my negative outlook on life . I did have a couple of friends left. One of those friends was a wee scottish guy that I loved to mock because he believed so strongly in Jesus. Lloyd McMillan was 10 years younger than me but about 50 years wiser than me. He and I had the Beatles in common. We both had our own bands and we both loved the Beatles. I suppose this may have been why he stuck by me in my time of discouragement. He was always witnessing to me and I was always scoffing, until this one time. I had hit rock bottom. I was drinking vast quantities of liquor and sleeping with what ever moved and had constant thoughts of suicide. Lloyd was still hanging in there, I don't know if he preached something different to me but this time it clicked. I had lost all hope in mankind and this Jesus was offering me this free gift. Nobody could take it from me. All I had to do was ask for it. I was simply amazed.Naturally I became an instant zealot and probably did more harm than good for the kingdom but at least rthis time I stuck with it.

Thank you Jesus

I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and got baptized in 1998. I was 15 at the time. I was saved at a church event called Hot Hearts '98. I don't remember who was speaking or what they were speaking about. I just remember thinking I needed to walk down from my seat to the front and accept Jesus Christ into my heart. Then I strayed for a long while starting in 2001. Then, last month I discovered Worthy and knew the Lord had directed me here. So I registered and here I am almost a month later. :noidea:

I was 18 and in boot camp. My parents never went to church. I grew up with them claiming they were going to heaven because they were already in hell. Instead of bibles they had books on ESP, the occult, two Ojuie boards (its spelled wrong but they are wrong anyway), and the satanic bible. I knew as a teenager this was not right, and with an abusive father and a mother I could not trust, the first opportunity I had to get out was joining the military. And in boot camp that's when it all started.

There are a lot of labels, but what is needed is a true relationship with Christ. Few are honest enough to answer "I don't have one" when asked their "religion".

Well this is a good thread for my first post!

I, very honestly, cannot remember a time I didn't have a relationship with Christ. Even as a child (although I'm sure at some point my understanding of his sacrifice for us was limited) I accepted Jesus as our Saviour.

I have never not believed, although I have stumbled and needed his guidance at pivotal times (as well as everyday.)

I don't believe that only adults can make the choice and have a personal relationship, especially now as a parent, seeing my children and how they have clearly accepted and believed, at very young ages.

My parents are in the ministry. When I was born they were pastoring and then from age 4 on they were evangelists. So, I've been in church since 9 months before I was born. I remember the setting but not the date of when I gave my heart to Jesusl. My dad had just finished preaching and was giving an altar call, I was 4 years old and knew that I needed to ask Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. I turned to my mom and asked her to go with me to the altar. We were met by my father, and my sister joined us . I came into the family of God surrounded by and with the guidance from my earthly family. I treasure this memory !! God has always been faithful. Life has not always been easy , but I've never doubted the Lord or my relationship with him. That was 43 years ago and I love Jesus more now than I ever have before.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
