i'm thinking of ordering a casette/cd with my own mone that will have a guy read the bible with me while i follow along  i'm only 15 and i have a hard time concentrating when i could be looking at.. yea..

so anyways, what book should i start at? i want one that is simple to read, and shows me who God really is

edit: i dont understand how you cant think of ANYTHING when you look at a girl wearing tight jeans or with her arms/legs showing. you'd have to be gay (or close to it) in order to have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING come accross your mind

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Inknprkn, Best book of the bible to start at is the Gospel of John. You will read about Jesus and His life here on earth . After John read the Psalms All the psalms are good but I like psalm 37, psalm 91 and psalm 121. One who ignores sexual content on tv etc does not mean they are gay. I choose not to look at that because it opens a door for satan to attack. Not only that but I am content in the Lord and what He tells us what to do and not to do. My wife and I are back together although not remarried yet. We struggle as all couples do and a couple times satan has tryed to convince me to find somebody else. I won't give in as God has told me this is the woman I brought to you( My wife) and I stand on that and will defend that to my death.

I am very sorry you are struggling with this. We all have weaknesses, and I know it has to be very difficult for you, seeing that you are 15. The age you are at makes it rather difficult to turn away from fleshly desires; your hormones are raging and there is peer pressure. I understand. I commend you for coming on this forum and being so humble about this weakness of yours. I will pray for you. The Lord hears your prayers and He knows you are struggling with this.

Regarding reading the Bible, a lot of preachers recommend starting at Matthew or John, and reading all the way through the New Testament twice. Then reading the OT. Then read the New Testament twice again, and repeat.

I tend to skip around a lot myself though. Oh well. It really is a matter of preference, but we should make it a point to try to read the entire Bible as often as possible.

it is told to us that we are not to look upon the nakedness of others, that are not our spouse......

it is also told to us that those that are sexually immoral will not see the Kingdom of God......

we are also told that if we have committed it in our hearts, it is the same as if we had done it....

one thing we also have to keep in mind, is that there are manythings we get involved with that we can not get out of all by our self.... we need the help of other brothers and sisters, and mostly the Lord..... we need the Lord, but until we are ready to acknowledge that we have a problem, help is far away.....

Ok, i will try to keep this as short as possible.

Subjects: thought process, temptation

First, the bible says ABSTAIN from all appearences of evil!

Second, the bible talks about how our thoughts should be pure!

Phl 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.

2Ti 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

FInally, temptation. I know, as many others here know, what it is like to deal with a very luring sin that we long after. Here are some verses that my youth pastor showed me after i went and talked to him.

1Th 5:19 Quench not the Spirit.

1Th 5:20 Despise not prophesyings.

1Th 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

1Th 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

For when that temptation comes, first and foremost, pray! Romans chapters 6 and 7. he told me to memorize those. SIN DOES NOT HAVE DOMINION OVER US ANYMORE! try at least reading those two chapters.

Mostly, trust God, and DON"T DO IT! :noidea:

Help can be found. There are many professionals who are trained to help people overcome this type of addictive behavior. I strongly recomend professional assistance. Addiction to pornography is a serious matter.

I recomend the following book:

A Hunger for Healing by J. Keith Miller.

This book is an excellent application of the classic 12 steps. The 12 steps are a proven effective tool to recover from addictive behavior and to facilitate sobriety.

I believe viewing pornography is a sin. There are often many other "activities" that are associated with pornography that lead to very dark, lonely places.

But even if it isn't a "sin", the damage that can and is often caused by sexual addiction is great: lost jobs, broken relationships, broken families, criminal activity.

how is watching porn adultery? im not married, and i dont have a girlfriend yet, and the definition of adultery is  Voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a partner other than the lawful spouse.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Pornagraphy is a sin. When Adam and Eve were in the garden, the reason God asked them who decieved them was because they were covered in fig leaves... They knew that it was wrong to look at each other naked...You cant tell me that when you watch porn, that you dont know in your heart of hearts that it is wrong. There are many scriptures that tell you that pornagraphy is wrong, but whenever in doubt, Just ask yourself, "what would Jesus do?"

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
