This is not going to affect the status of those already here; it will affect those who are born here going forward after EO is signed.

We have had Christians taken to court and sued over political incorrectness, like refusing to violate their religious convictions by not contributing their services to celebrations of sin like gay weddings (bakers, florists, photographers).  And now Colorado is taking the same baker to court because he won't make a cake celebrating a gender transitioning party.

But losing a job over something you said is not a violation of freedom of speech. Could I come on to Worth and start calling people names? No way. I would be reported and ban from the thread. In fact you can not even post in this thread without it being approved. But is that a violation of my free speech? No it is not. Because message forums like work places are allowed to make rules that state you will be kicked out or fire for making rude statements. Or even talking about a certain topic.

The 1898 case of United States vs Wong Kim Ark (https://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/169/649) interpreted the 14th Amendment to determine that the gentleman in question was indeed a US citizen because of his birth in the country. ANY interpretation other than this would, by definition, be "reinterpretation". People will certainly debate about whether or not the Amendment should be reinterpreted, but claiming it wouldn't be a reinterpretation would require ignoring the legal fact of the case.

If I may speak frankly for a moment. I am somewhat taken back that so many conservatives here are okay with our Constitution being messed with.  One thing I know about the Republican party is that they uphold the Constitution. Which leads me to be believe that many Republicans are no longer Republicans. They have now join the Party of Trump.

Im guessing 85% citizens dont understand the amendment, why it was written, and how it applies and to whom. Which isxwhy it has been grossly abused.

There is a not small number of people (including the people who wrote the amendment) that considered this to not include people who were here illegally....    The Supreme Court has not ruled on this contention between people who believe differently.     And this is what the president will push...…   knowing it will be challenged in court it will go to the Supreme Court and settle the matter.    And with the make up of the current court it may well be decided in the President's favor.    But he hasn't written the EO yet so he's probably scoping out the possibilities for he doesn't like to start things he can's finish in his favor.

Are you are aware russian women pay a service 20 grand to set up their flying here to have a baby, stay in hospital a few days and fly back? Baby is now a citizen. Baby is entitled the citizen benefits for life! What a sham! 

  The amendment needs to be used as written. It will be again thanks to out POTUS. 

 

Btw: if you want to learn about the time in history when it was written; it is all on record. There are even minutes of the debates between those who created it. It is clear that the amendment is not used for purpose it was created. It has been distorted to fulfill the lefts desire to shuffle in millions for votes to pad their numbers. 22 million illegal aliens today living here in USA. 22 MILLION. That doesnt include all those living abroad with dual citizenship.
