Security  is not financial anyway. Nice to have some money, but there is a happiest medium between being so rich one feels they do not need God and being so poor they resent Him over what they do not have for themselves, thinking their reward is here and now.

This is not the kingdom of our Lord Jesus, it is the wild jungle. Our riches for today is in our  ability to share the gospel of Jesus with friend, family, stranger, and even enemy. Praise God for that privilege. That is where to concentrate most  effort  work  study and  prayer.

All of the above is a litinay of one amateur's experiences and thoughts,  and is not solid financial advice for anyone else, just an accounting of one person's multi year experiences and personal conclusion for their own use.

I really appreciate you going into your experience. Quite the rollercoaster, my goodness. I guess it's fortunate for me to have been profitable over the last few years with very careful planning and so I tend to miss alot of the downsides. They are there.

Oh yes, we do take a gamble on many things in life. I guess my really narrowed in focus is the definition of gamble and the philosophy behind categorizing gambling and investing together in a way that is absolute. This would perhaps take a pages long essay. I'm not sure lol. But I agree, we take a gamble on things in life and this doesn't make them sinful depending on their nature.

Amen :) We do need to keep our focus on the Lord and know our priorities are on Him. Material wealth can be a blessing and a temptation.

Thanks for this, I'll have to look into these things.

I guess my takeaway from this thread is that there are many different opinions and experiences on some matters. We know Scripture is the Truth but some of us interpret non-essential salvation topics differently based on our walk with God. I'm glad to see all the views and see where it takes me in the future.

Sorry! I guess one can go live in the woods and squat  under the trees if they feel they are supporting an unbiblical system paying for a place to live and to have conveniences.

It is not living off the proceeds of others. If it were then  the same can be sid of the butcher the baker and the candlestick maker, all of whom provide something of benefit in exchange for currencies which also represent the value of another's work.

Taking risk building and operating  places to live for people, providing the  water, sewer, trash, cable TV and internet, yard and landscape maintenance, security, working washers and dryers, new carpet, new interior paint, paying the local property taxes, and State licensing fees of many kinds does not come  to the owner operator as simply taking of the proceeds of others.

But yes,  very few understand the benefit received for pay when they are the payer, all they see is the new lease agreement coming up and it is almost always higher cost than the last one. Mostly because insurance and property and service taxes get increased.

It is Biblical to recognize that a workman is worth his wage, no matter what the service provided may be, anything and everything from teaching the word  of God to fixing the cable tv system to selling insurance policies.

And my God bless you in both fortune and famine, good and bad events. For they will come at times. It is all going to burn anyway, eh?

I wanted to ask others here. Is it Christian like to invest in stocks in the stock market?

Well maybe you can gain money from this. But you can also lose all your money as well. I have been thinking of this for years. Whether to do it is right or wrong. Not that I have any involvement. I just think and ponder about certain things kind of randomly.

So if you can gain in the stock market. Or if you can lose all your money depending what happens to your stock.. then is this too risky?

Do you think God approves Christians to invest in the stock market or is it a waste of time and money? Would God want to use this money for other purposes?

What do the members here think according to biblical standards and ones also point of view on business matters for everyday Christians world wide?:whistling:

Isnt that what all businesses do, they buy stock and sell it more expensive.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
