Jesus said, “ Repent”. He did NOT say “Repent of Sins”........Essentially He was saying “ Turn to God”.That will get results .Being  sorry for sins ain’t gonna save anybody. One needs  to find a way for Justification before God ....THAT is something that will save a person. The Tax Collector That wouldn’t even look up to Heaven yet cried out, “ God, have mercy on me , a sinner. HE went home JUSTIFIED ! That’s the type of True Repentance God   Requires For Salvation .Why would Jesus or John the Baptist preach anything less than something that would get the job done ?

What is there to repent of but sin? Why would anyone want to sin?

I reckon I could repent of not sinning :whistling:   huh?

People do that. Not a good idea, though, I don't think.

I agree that the sin to be repented of is relying on ones own righteousness, or guilt over sin as if those things ever saved..We are to turn away from US and rely on the finished work of Christ. A " sinnets prayer", a date, feeling sorry are not strong evidences of salvation. What you are saved by is what you are kept by. And since Jesus says He's the only one whose hand a Christian can never be plucked from it is Christ who saves and He who keeps. Even Satan believes in Jesus.. Repentance is more..it's a reliance on the imputed work of Christ who has made the Christian a new creation and sealed with the holy spirit for that day! Christ is the only anchor that does not fail; the only foundation that survived the storm. Don't build you house on sinking sand.

Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

  1. In Christ alone my hope is found,

In Christ alone! - who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe.
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live.
There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath,
    Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

Right.  I was being sarcastic.  Each time a Christian is convicted of sin, he repents, confesses his sin and asks the LORD to forgive him.  And our Father in heaven forgives.  He promises. :)

1 John 1:9 New King James Version (NKJV)

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

This was written to the Christian. This confessing is not salvific. It's like when Jesus explained his deciples didn't need a bath just to wash their feet. Conversion is different.

When we judge someone, we'd better be prepared to be judged. But if there were no judgment, murderers, and the like, would go free.

This is basic stuff but remember there's a difference between being judgemental of others and simply evaluating. To judge others is wrong and it's what Jesus was warning the people not to do. But it's correct and even necessary to evaluate all things.

When a murderer goes to trial, you can call it judgment or you can call it evaluation - it is what it is.

We should always have elders who are knowledgeable in right interpretation of  God's word. It also says In 2nd Timothy " Show they self approved a workman who need not be ashamed , but rightly dividing the word of truth . We should be able to recognize error and false teaching.

You might remember Jesus said, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand" (Matthew 4:17 RSV). I submit to you that we can not understand its meaning until we’ve repented of our sin. I also submit to you that some of our church leaders, theologians, and biblical scholars have not repented of their sin, so when they try to explain the verse’s meaning, they speak nonsense. It’s important that we obey God so we can understand him, as opposed to believing everything church leaders, biblical scholars, and theologians tell us.

You can not believe everything a Pastor, Church leaders or those on Worthy tell you. You need to know the Bible so well that you can tell a counterfeit right a way. You need to have Christian descernment. There is a lot of false teaching out there. Satan loves it. That is one of his best tools.

But friend, ...what you are saying is "not" the Biblical definition of repenting.

The word repent is metanoeō, it meaning is:

1) to change one’s mind, i.e. to repent
2) to change one’s mind for better, heartily to amend with abhorrence of one’s past sins

Please notice, repentance takes place in the "mind."

Our sins are done by our body.

Man is a spirit, ...he has a soul and they both "live" in a physical body.

Looking "logically" at what you are saying is...

The first time I "repented" I changed my mind about Jesus, ...then the next time I "repented" I "changed my mind about Jesus, ...then I repented again and again I "changed" my mind about Jesus, ...continuing on and on our whole lives, ...changing our "mind" about Jesus, ...flipping back and forth about "who" Jesus is.

I challenge you, take a concordance and look for the word "repent," metanoeō, to change our mind, ...in the Letters the Holy Spirit wrote to His Church from Romans to Jude, ...go for it, ...you won't find the word "repent" mentioned one time in the context of a spiritual signification, ...but don't believe me, prove me wrong, ...study to show yourself approved.  2 Tim 2:15

Lord bless

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
