For those of you who attend a church on Sundays.  If you are sick or snow in or something happens that you can not attend.  How do you spend your Sunday mornings?

While in the city I have received e-mails that the mountain church has closed two weeks in a row due to ice. I assume they mean iced roads and not a lack of ice for beverages. Since I do not have dependable internet thee I guess I will just rely on my own archive of sermons spend time in worship with my spouse at home or perhaps walk down the community recreation center an dsee if they have functioning internet then I might be ablle to live stream one of the city churches while at the rec-center. Maybe someone else will wander in, and we might then  have a little time of fellowship too.

This site is my church.  The members my family/friends.

I almost lost my church, family/friends the other day.  That is because I was very close to sending a personal message to George asking him to delete my membership and all of my posts.

The reason for my almost leaving this site was because of the attacks I received in a thread that were not deserved.  Not deserved is a key reason I decided not to leave.  That would be giving in to the enemy.

Take care and God Bless,

                  :101:

I am glad you did not delete your membership. We are going to receive all kinds of attacks on Worthy. Not all who come to this website are Christians. Don't take them too seriously.

If I can't make church, I watch the In Touch Ministries with Charles Stanley TV show for 30 minutes. Otherwise I do what I want to do.

Where we live there is not a Church of our Lord Jesus Christ, ...and believe me in 25 years we have tried them all except for the Catholic.

What do we do on Sunday mornings is drive to our favorite place beside the lagoon, the waves breaking on the lava rocks sending ocean spray high into the air, ...and listen to a Bible Study in French, ...then in the afternoon I listen to 2 or 3 more from my favorite online pastors.

Lord bless

Or for me, a heavy dose of doze.

--------------

Can't imagine my becoming so selfish again as to not give encouragement to a pastor by attending a church, some church somewhere, as led by God, and being  a part of the body of Christ somewhere; and participating somehow, even if it is just to come in and clean up some or dong a bit of volunteer maintenance, - as this old body allows.

<<Snipped>>

I recently bought and have been reading a very potent helpful little book.

"The Duties of Christian Fellowship" by John Owen.

This book was a huge eye opener. John Owen lived in the 1600s. His message was a huge turnaround for me. I live and move in a society that is all about the self. This book refocused my own orientation to a healthy perspectives of what its meant to be to be part of a body of Christ, the local church.

The book is small, easy to read, only having about 100 pages.

https://www.christianbook.com/duties-christian-fellowship-manual-church-members/john-owen/9781848717725/pd/717725

He furnishes instruction on biblical grounds for how to relate to ones Pastor. He then has another list of how to be in right relational ways with co-members of ones church.

His path (originating in the 1600s) can be very applicable today. Today, we find much ado about 'its not me' or attending and critiquing everything, and or saying "I dont think this one fits me right"

But Owen, helps to give us a huge paradigm shift. From our modern American lifestyles of looking for what one wants to serve ourselves, to shift to the paradigm of obedience to the Word and functioning in the body of Jesus Christ, aligning right attitudes, right focus.

Only difference between 1600s and today, is today we have a  smorgasboard of false teachers, false preachers, pastors and false doctrines. So we must practice biblical discerning with all those we attempt to fellowship with.

Just was a huge eye opener.

Now, to the original question asked, when I stay home on Sundays, I pray, I spend the morning in prayer, and listening to Martyn Lloyd Jones sermons or Joel Beeke sermons.

I read my Bible, then listen to Dr. J. Vernon Mcgee's Thru the Bible Sunday sermon on my tablet then listen to some of the questions and answers on there. Its like a personal Sunday service at home. I really enjoy it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
