The need for better leadership. We have too many corrupt leaders who are only interested in enriching themselves. We need leaders who are willing to be a bit unpopular and also be willing to act upon their promises. Ramaphosa is such a leader and maybe the the leader of Rwanda. This means Africans themselves will need to be willing to do what is needed rather than what is easy

Studying the diverse African cultures with their unique world views and languages takes a lifetime at least, but in general, many Africans self-identify more with their tribe than with their sovereign nation.  In other words, citizens of South Africa are more Zulu or Xhosa than South African.  To a degree, this is understandable as the national government was imposed by European colonialism and its subsequent governmental and societal structures was top-down and did not require nor want any involvement from the people.  In short, many Africans and Middle Easterners connect much more with their tribe (tribalism) than with their country, which frequently creates much strife and conflict.

In the US, we don't see as much tribalism, since people who live in Arizona identify more as Americans than Arizonans and people who live South Dakota identify more as Americans than as South Dakotans, HOWEVER, we are beginning to see American "tribalism" crop up as people begin to create affiliations with their politics, socio-economic statuses, religions, distrust of elected leaders and now even disbelief in what medical experts say, that the US could be walking down a pathway similar to what Africa has been experiencing for decades.

Africa's colonial past. Colonisation, whatever benefits it might have brought,  did more harm than good. Instead of working with the people, they oppressed and enslaved people. So many people in Africa resent the west and blame them for everything that goes wrong. People need to be freed from a colonial mindset , at least that is what I have found inn South Africa

The above is the root of many of the continent current problems.  The Europeans and the western nations took and took and never built up any meaningful infrastructure and built up any social structure for the main thing that emancipates  a people i.e education.  They took the abundant natural resources and transported them to enrich their societies. They also took the human resources too for their labor .  They propped up puppet governments and to this day that mindset is practiced.

Spiritually, Africa has and still is steeped into the ancestral spirit worship and the sort, which is forbidden in the bible and that may be a huge hindrance to their struggles.  But they are some signs of improvement in some states .  China has come in and trade deals are being made and infrastructure is starting to improve.  Again, the capitalist of the world are looking to come to make their fortunes there.   Their leaders have to work together to rise up and not sell out their blessed natural resources, but trade wisely.

In the Congo that is blessed with immense copper ect, there are foreign companies that are till this day draining the wealth of this blessed country and it is all because of 99 year lease made by puppet governments .

Rise up Africa and shine.

@Henry_iain, I agree with most of your points but for colonization. Am Cameroonian and we celebrated 60years of independence.  Does it mean that for 60 years after independence we cannot still think of something good for ourselves.

How will a single person embezzlement 300billion from a government whose budget is not up to that amount. It's not the colonial master embezzling. I have know of one president since I was born and as of now, I don't know if he is death or alive.

The church is a slippery ground in Africa. Church is a business and it takes the grace of God to be able to locate a christ believing church. How can the same building host 3 churches. How will a pastor preach against a fellow pastor in church?

We need to wake up, stop the blame game and if every individual takes action toward our dear continent, things will change.

Yes I agree that is why I said Africa is a big place :)  We have different histories. Too often are all African countries  lumped together when there are, in fact, vast differences between, say Zimbabwe (Independent for less than a 100 years) and Nigeria or Egypt. I agree with you in part but I think that many Africans learned how to rule from their colonial leaders. So they are simply doing the same thing. Not that this is an excuse, I am just saying it is a factor, not a main cause.

But I do agree that we need to take responsibility for our own land. When I say the church I am speaking specificaly about true believers. who are actually following God. There are many charlatans too. But there are good churches too. We need the real church to be in unity

Yes. I completely agree. I have often said that the key to reaching Africa for the gospel is in getting the tribal leaders saved. In South Africa all the politics that takes place, is always about this. And the Afrikaners, the English speaking population, the people we call the coloured people, the Indians and the Bushman are all groups that ultimately operate in a similar way.

100% right. Let me add to what you are saying with the following example. South Africa used to have abundant gold and diamonds as well as many other minerals. Diamonds are not very useful, but through clever marketing, was made into a lucrative industry. And today the royal family sit with jewels that cost a fortune coming from diamonds that were stolen from South Africa.

And here I sit and I am descended from settlers from Scotland, Ireland, Netherlands and France. I probably also have some real African blood somewhere. :)

But I always feel sad that I came from such a privileged background, when the very land I sit on was taken, forcibly from people who are now sitting in poverty. I do not think that makes me guilty But I would nevertheless like to be part of fixing what my ancestors have broken. I agree with the South African government (especially since we only truly escaped colonialism 26 years ago.) that there needs to be some sort of redistribution of land or some way of evening things out just a bit. Because, especially in South Africa the inequality is quite noticeable. I am a capitalist, but in Africa it might be necessary to allow for some balance towards socialism in order to  close the gap.

That's a very insightful thought compared to those tasteless illustrations you post. Nicely stated.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
