So does my 1967 Scofield Study Reference Bible. I can't be blamed if people don't know how to understand and interpret properly. We have some individuals who think God hates them? Well, no He does not HATE them. You don't honestly think the Lord God hated Esau do you? I didn't think so. Okay then, discussion over. God bless! :)

Thank you BeauJangles for your reply.

You said;     "You don't honestly think the Lord God hated Esau do you? I didn't think so".

Actually, I believe what the word of God says, as I quoted. It is your right to believe whatsoever you will.
I do not pretend to know the mind of God, nor why scripture says God hated Esau. Thought it meant what it says....

But I do not change the meaning to suit my feelings, or requirements.
There is much written about this verse. I choose to not change the meaning as written.
I found 30 bible versions of this verse, twenty eight used the word   'hated'.
If someone believes that God hates them, we don't change the meaning of the word to help them.
We would try to understand why they think that, and give them scripture to correctly help them better understand.

I was hoping for that. Further quoting me means the topic is still on the table for discussion.

It is Christ Who perfectly obeyed the commands and the Old Covenant and died in obedience to the Father's will, that by His righteousness we may be accounted righteous. There may certainly be a carnal tendency to interpret the above-quoted passage legalistically in terms of our own obedience. However, we should understand that Christ has secured these blessings for all those who are in Him.

God's love or blessings were conditional in the Old Covenant. But Christ fulfilled all those conditions on behalf of His elect, and suffered the punishment for their sins. Therefore, God's love is unconditional in the New Covenant for those who are in Christ.

Jacob and Esau are being used figuratively in Malachi to represent two groups of peoples. Look at the context of the whole passage.

Romans 9 is using that passage in Malachi to underline the types of people God finds acceptable, now that Christ's death brought gentiles into the equation.

Neither passage is speaking of the humans called Jacob and Esau. Otherwise John 3 v 16 would contain exceptions.

Reading whole chapters around a passage of scripture is helpful.

Thought I would hit on "hated". I like this which God could have also said  “Abraham I loved, and every other man I hated.”. For some reason we tend to read Gods word with human emotions and then take God and apply it to Him. So take human emotions based in sin.. toss them out. And the fact that GOD is not a man. On and on. God choose one over the other. Thats it. And if you read you find God did infact also bless Esau. So.. if God truly hated him.. he had a awful way of showing it :)

Love. Ever just think and then listen to others talk about Gods love? How we all see something so differently. And its God.. so its never ending. What do you get or picture when you think of Christ? For me.. compassion. Its like it just explodes from Him.. oh I want that.. to be like that.. to have that compassion. Love.. I truly believe we can't. I believe its HIM.. we know how to be good.. but love.. its Him. HAHA.. yeah.. WHATS not from God? ALL good things.. each day.. each breath.. hello.. does GOD love us the world the sinner? So much to keep the sun shining.. the seasons going. Adam and Eve loved God so much they disobeyed Him.

You can take this with a grain of salt. I've shared it before. Where this preacher had so many letters..way to many to read. I don't remember how why Christ as there. But the man says.. he wanted to lay hands on them and pray. He said.. Christ bent down pick up a letter and read it. And then began to do that with every one. One of the best ..I don't know what to call it .. but short is.. I saw people. No saved no lost just people and Jesus was crying so very hard. For not one knew how much He loved them. Here we are in a Christian site.. there are those around us that forgive me have no clue how much how special how loved you are.

My post from another forum regarding awareness of God's Love for us:

Why Do We Love God and His Son Jesus Christ?

So many people live their lives not aware of the amazing love God has for everyone.

In my case I remember from early childhood being told that God loved me and everyone else. I have heard or seen the phrase "Jesus Loves You" millions of times, but it is patently obvious to me now that Satan works hard to blind people to the reality of God's love.

Someone might hear or see the phrase "Jesus Loves You", and think "So What?"

Well, I don't like to think God forces us to love Him against our will. That wouldn't be genuine love, but when we become aware of God's love for us, are shown His love by various means, and experience His love in a tangible, meaningful way, I believe this makes us willing to love Him with no coercion.

1Jn 4:7-21 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loves is born of God, and knows God. (8) He that loves not knows not God; for God is love. (9) In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. (10) Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (11) Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. (12) No man has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and his love is perfected in us. (13) Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. (14) And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. (15) Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him, and he in God. (16) And we have known and believed the love that God has to us. God is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him. (17) Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. (18) There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love. (19) We love him, because he first loved us. (20) If a man say, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? (21) And this commandment have we from him, That he who loves God love his brother also.

THANK  YOU  MY  LORD  KING  FOR  YOUR  WORDS

PSALM 56:11  in  GOD  have I put my trust I will not be afraid what can do unto me

HEBREWS 2:1  THEREFORE  WE  OUGHT  TO  GIVE  the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard lest at any time we let them slip

AGAIN --- HEBREWS 12:14  follow peace with all men and holiness --WITHOUT  WHICH  NO  MAN  SHALL  SEE  THE  LORD   --12:15-- looking diligently lest any man ---FAIL  THE  GRACE  OF  GOD--- lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you and --THEREBY  MANY  BE  DEFILED--

--12:16--  LEST  THERE  BE ANY  FORNICATOR  OR  PROFANE  PERSON  AS  --ESAU--  who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright  --12:17-- for you know how that afterward when he would have inherited the blessing --HE  WAS  REJECTED-- for he found no place of repentance though he sought it carefully with tears

GENESIS 36:8  thus dwelt esau in mount seir --- ESAU  IS  EDOM

MALACHI 1:4  whereas edom saith we are impoverished but we will return and build the desolate places ---THUS  SAITH  THE  LORD  OF  HOSTS--- they shall build but I will throw down and they shall call them --THE  BORDER  OF  WICKEDNESS  AND  THE  PEOPLE  AGAINST  WHOM  --THE  LORD-- HATH  INDIGNATION  FOREVER

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
