1) How do I stop yielding to sin?

A believer never does. Neither does God expect this. As Hebrews repeatedly says, AVOID THE SIN OF UNBELIEF.

All we MUST do is keep believing the Gospel and keep putting our trust in Yeshua - God alone. Believing Loyalty is what the Lord requires of us. Plain and simple. For aeons man-ology has sought to come up with a formula to remove sin - NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Yeshua already took that burden from us. But our niggling prideful guilt keeps us trying to be perfect.

What we could NOT achieve through our own moral perfection, we cannot lose thru our moral IMPERFECTION. We can only lose our Salvation if we deliberately turn away from Yeshua and the Gospel and go after other Gods.
Yes, even the god of
self righteousness which is our own inflated ideas.

The longer we berate others (and ourselves) for not measuring up, the more distant we become from the Cross of Christ.

Godliness does not come in one day.

Daniel kept praying and fasting.

Jesus told us to forgive people and help the needy.

In many years we do that then Godhead will be revealed unto us.

Shalom @Gideon

What a great post brother. May Yahweh bless you for your good heart.

Yes, it seems that many Christians today live to the same standards as the rest of the world - hyper sensitive, eager to be offended rather than corrected, deal in "relative truth" and distort words out of context to accuse and abuse and self-justify.  What makes this worse than the world is that they do this in the name of the Lord and grace.

But it fills me with gladness to read posts like yours and that of a few others who seek the ways of the Lord in humility, regardless of the cost involved or adjustment needed to incorrect but long-standing beliefs.

Love & Shalom

Thank you all sharing. As I stated in the OP, an exhortation such as this get all sorts of reactions. The duty of a watchman is to keep his eyes on the horizon, and if he sees what others do not yet see, to warn them that danger approaches.

Some get offended. Some are indifferent. Some take it to heart. But as a whole, we are asleep to what God desires to do with us, for us and through us. Our minds have parameters set as to what is possible. Why are our parameters so confined? Simply because we are still walking with the understanding that we must do the changing, the overcoming, the resisting. Guys, that is not the gospel. God promises to cause us to obey Him, and all He asks is that we believe it.

Our old nature is limited. We try to obey, to resist, but failure always eventually follows, amen?  We cannot envision walking in actual victory, abiding in the Lord in intimacy all day, every day,  with our foot placed on satan's neck. Why?  Because  up til now, we fall when the temptation gets extreme. We look around us, and see others in our fellowships, even our leaders and pastors, and they too are not walking as real overcomers.  So we find our place of comfort in our walk with God, assuming this is the best we can do, and assume this is the best God can do.

This has gone on this way for 1900 years, ever since Paul died and the wolves entered the flock, limiting our truth to forgiveness alone. Do not get me wrong, forgiveness is a miracle in itself and my heart is full because of it. The core message of Christ dying on the cross has been preserved even though satan has tried to stamp it out.

But in these last days, God has promised us the latter rain, for we are approaching the full final harvest. What will draw the multitude in the world when the underpinnings of life itself are shaken to the core? A nice friendly church service? No. What will draw them are saints walking with peace and joy despite enduring the very same break-up of society as we know it.

God said it this way:

"And I will sanctify My great name which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God , when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes."

Ezekiel 36:23

Holy saints! Children of God walking in real victory over the world, the flesh and the devil! Transformed from old natured people to  fully displaying the fruits of the Spirit, characteristics of God Himself living in them. Glory! That is what our future holds.

We are the blessed generation who will experience such an amazing thing. You and I. All God is asking of us is to believe His promises. He tells us that we are no longer in the flesh and owe it a big fat nothing. Let's start there and see the glory of God lead us upwards from there.

blessings,

Gideon

What is there that can be manipulated in a fallen, cursed by God, world with satan as it's prince to gain acceptance with God? People who try to claim works themselves make you worthy of God are lead astray by by not knowing their Bible and self exaltation... There is only One Life that maintained a sinless perfection and He being Jesus The Christ and those born of God know it is That Life that will make them worthy to be in The Fathers presence.... why is it that it is faith only that can please God when faith is defined by God as

Heb 11:1

11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
KJV

works can be seen can they not? Then one must ask what is a substance of things hoped for

Rom 8:24-27

24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
KJV

People who suggest that works is the focus have ignored this passage below

Jude 23-25

23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
KJV

notice the reliance v:24 it is totally upon Jesus 'Who 'IS'

John 14:6

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
KJV

So when one tries to get you to focus upon one's self and works know they are leading you astray for it is Christ alone that can deliver you from your first born self and present you second birthed holy before The Father for eternal keeping...

Heb 7:22-25

22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:

24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
KJV

People who see works as a nasty, bad word and should be ignored and rejected at all cost, unless you be found as working to be saved, should speak to God about being created in Jesus for good works.  People who see works as self seeking, self dependence do not yet know how to allow Christ to work in and through you to accomplish the works we are created to do which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:8-10

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

People who discard works that Christ would have you do for any reason are not accepting the fullness of scripture and have blinders on, seeing only works salvation, which a true christian rejects in itself.

Amen and amen. And remember that it's all about the "relationship we have with Christ" which makes it all work together for our good. Shalom.

Rom 6:16

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Rom 6:19

I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

One more thing to consider. Shalom.

Revelation 20:[12] And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Remember Moses. He knew there were books of record.

Exodus 32:[32] Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.
