You need to understand the method of Daniel-Marsh's topics and the style in which he's attempting to engage a doctrinal discussions. They are meant to be thought provoking and designed to include other posters into the subjects he's been researching. I've seen numerous ones presented here and he has placed a lot of time and effort into them.

In the 50s I called them the "don'ts".  "Don't smoke, don't chew, don't mix with those who do".   We weren't supposed to smoke or chew tobacco, dance, go to movies, visit a tavern even if you don't drink, play cards especially those with jacks, queens and kings because of some fable about them.  My parents went square dancing for fun and we played cards as a family so we were considered to be worldly even though none of us gambled.  I suspect that is what they are referring to.  Today we would add pot to the list.  So called holiness churches like Nazarene and some Pentecostal churches and even Methodist  might subscribe to these don'ts.

I havent heard of that where i am from. It sounds like a doing of a judgemental person.
